FAU Football Visitors for Weekend of December 10th, 2021

The Owls are hosting a number of prospects this weekend. The class size has been in flux as of late with both roster departures occurring, and the need to bring in field ready talent. Thus, the strategy has changed.

FAU had three high school pledges as of just a few weeks ago, but that is now down to one at present.

The shift in scholarship usage will be played out primarily by portal opportunities, but Florida Atlantic is also hosting some "currently committed" prospects who this site will not disclose, unless a change is made, to keep in line with our goal congruent philosophy.

Will be updating this thread as things develop and time permits, but for now we have the following confirmed portal and JUCO prospects in for this weekend.

OL Brendon Bordner - Rutgers portal entry who has a definite upside at the Owls' level of play and could likely step into a starting role should he decide to join the team. Saw time as a starter in B10 play, and plays tackle, which is a highly sought after position given overall availability for this cycle. Arrived Wednesday and will depart Friday.

LB Jamie Pettway - Now high rated three star prospect who is departing Missouri. Has seen time at four stars our of high school by 247 Sports, and was touted as the nation's 26th (247), and 21st (Rivals) best prospect at inside linebacker for the 2019 class.

LB Morven Joseph - Originally committed to Florida before later pledging to then Head Coach Willie Taggart at FSU in late 2019. Now a Four star Tennessee transfer portal LB who presently checks in at 6-2, 215 lbs.

RB Marvin Scott III - Nebraska back who hit the transfer portal back at the beginning of the month and hails from Port Orange, FL. Touted as a mid grade three star, with shifty style.

TE Carter Boawtright - Big body FSU portal transfer who is also rated as a mid grade three star prospect. Hails from Moultrie, GA.

OLB Xavier Peters - Originally a four star product who signed with FSU, now a Garden City C.C. transfer who is tabbed as the 29th best JUCO prospect this cycle and 4th best edge available.

WR Xavier Williams - Will visit Saturday. Crimson Tide Transfer portal wideout that had three catches for 24 yards this past season. From Chaminade-Madonna, Hollywood, FL was originally rated as a four star prospect (94 composite), while being regarded as the country's 24th best receiver prospect in his 2018 class. Did not play for Alabama in the 2021 season due to injury. “Ziggy has some medical issues that’s keeping him out", said Head Coach Nick Saban during preseason practice. “Without saying what, he’s medically not going to play this year.”

ILB Jaleel McRae - Will also visit Saturday. A 6-2, 230 lbs transfer portal prospect who also comes from Florida State. Was listed as the 11th overall player at his position for the 2019 recruiting class out of high school at IMG Academy in New Smyrna Beach, FL.

Looking like this decision is going to come down to FAU and Kentucky.

So far so good as far as filling in needs. A playmaking WR would be nice

Now that it is public, making this a name to watch tomorrow at 10:00 AM EST:

Jaylin Lucas

Crazy speed, and agility. Can do it all but play on the line.

Was visited by Coach Taggart and Coach Ward (above), and also visited Boca Raton last weekend, and it is between:

FAU
Indiana
La Tech
FSU

Two days ago, would have said FAU all the way, but now will have to wait to see what he says. Last minute pursuit in effect.

Go Owls

IOL Brendon Bordner & FAU?

I haven't seen a proper announcement but, his Twitter Bio says FAU. I believe his rating has increased over time. It could help solve two of three problems addressed in another thread.
