Forest Hill's Micky Bullard CB/WR

Not to get into the whole "stars" debate which has frankly been going on for years and it's painfully obvious we are all going to disagree on this subject. But I say this in all out respect to the posters that disagree with me and a few others regarding our recruiting - I just don't see how anyone can say that FAU's recruiting has not been a problem, especially when you have seen our results over the past few years.

Yeah coaching has been a problem, but when we also lack legitimate D1 talent you create a recipe for disaster - which is evident in a 1 - 11 season. There is a reason just about every major publication/recruiting outlet has ranked FAU's recruiting DEAD LAST (not just in the Belt but) IN THE NATION. There are many reasons we have fallen off the face of the earth, and unfortunately the lack of quality of recruiting is one of them. Angelos has even eluded to it and made sure to address it with his new hire(s).

Again, I don't want to get into the whole recruiting debate again because it is frankly a tired subject - but in my opinion it is painfully obvious there needs to be an uptick in our recruiting.

Curious to know why you think Angelos knows anything about recruiting and college football?  The guy is an attorney and probably doesn't know what a post pattern is.

They need an uptick in recruiting due to the stadium, but most of all need to up the level of QB they recruit.  There are some very good football players on this team.  Aside from WR and QB, most of the groups are more talented than we've ever had.

Much better league?  We won our bowl games as well vs other conferences.

2008 Rusty was hurt most of the year or we probably go 8-4.

"I grew up watching SEC and ACC football so maybe it is just carried over but I want to win 10 every year that is my expectations. Those big schools having those big expectations every year is why they are so good."

This is your problem, you dont concieve the difference between us and large SEC programs (I am not sure which ACC program wins 10 a season???).  Its not that they have those expectations every year…its that they have the money for coaches and recruiting budgets, tradition, etc to get the players and coaches to constantly churn those seasons out.

We simply do not have the resources to win 10 games every season at this point, especially with 3 or 4 body bag games a season.  If you set your goals realistically maybe you wont be so outrageous on this board.

My High school  football coach always said shoot for the moon even if fall short you will fall among the stars.

I think this is from a country song…and its cute.

The irony is that the man responsible for fundraising to get us the facilities and resources to reach "the stars" is the man he hates so much, Howard.

Seriously though, know you know where you want the program to go, what are you going to do to help them get there? Flaming on a forum does nothing to improve our weight room but checks do, involved alumni do, season tickets do. so what's the plan? It doesn't just happen with a snap of the fingers. Once you get out of college, they stop handing out trophies to everyone.

The "star" system is simply a marketing ploy, with a small amount of substance.  Rivals & Scout sell subscriptions based on that system.  Now, I'm not completely against it, however, if our coaches are recruiting off of "star" lists, to put it plainly, we are fucked.

I want my coach to get out to the games, watch the players, identify how good the competition is, watch game film, not highlight reels and make sure the kid is a good "fit" for his system.

Stars don't tell you a damn thing about character, heart or love of the game.  They speak to talent.  Give me 85 lunch pail type kids that will leave it out there every play of every game.

Well - he is the AD, isn't he? Whether he is an attorney or not (has he even engaged in the practice of law in the past 15 years?? lol)has nothing to do with his primary function of evaluating the state of FAU sports. And per our brand new head coach himself:

"We should be the first choice of these players," Pelini wrote. "We need to keep them home. If we do this and WIN a couple BCS-LEVEL PLAYERS each year we will begin to take advantage of the recruiting base."

Pelini said that every high school in the state would be visited by a member of his staff at least once a year."

VERY REFRESHING!

i have just come to learn you just accept not being the best or having the best when you were young and a group of girls hung out with you im sure you friends got the hot ones and you were just happy to take the fat one. Im sure you just take getting passed over for a promotion just because you did not go to the best school. Do not bring the mediocre attitude around FAU it isnt healthy.
