I thought it was one of those banal cliches…
Yes, ladies and gentlemen…he did just successfully employ usage of the word "banal."

I have had many talks with Angelos i think he has done a great Job. And the fact you question his sports knowledge after the great decisions Basketball he has made and the other good things he has done for the program shows me you you do understand some things about college sports.walty12 said

Not to get into the whole "stars" debate which has frankly been going on for years and it's painfully obvious we are all going to disagree on this subject. But I say this in all out respect to the posters that disagree with me and a few others regarding our recruiting - I just don't see how anyone can say that FAU's recruiting has not been a problem, especially when you have seen our results over the past few years.
Yeah coaching has been a problem, but when we also lack legitimate D1 talent you create a recipe for disaster - which is evident in a 1 - 11 season. There is a reason just about every major publication/recruiting outlet has ranked FAU's recruiting DEAD LAST (not just in the Belt but) IN THE NATION. There are many reasons we have fallen off the face of the earth, and unfortunately the lack of quality of recruiting is one of them. Angelos has even eluded to it and made sure to address it with his new hire(s).
Again, I don't want to get into the whole recruiting debate again because it is frankly a tired subject - but in my opinion it is painfully obvious there needs to be an uptick in our recruiting.
Curious to know why you think Angelos knows anything about recruiting and college football? The guy is an attorney and probably doesn't know what a post pattern is.
They need an uptick in recruiting due to the stadium, but most of all need to up the level of QB they recruit. There are some very good football players on this team. Aside from WR and QB, most of the groups are more talented than we've ever had.

Whoa Nelley…gonna have to snap the ol' bridle on ya' there.
Angelos hired Jarvis off the clearance rack. He didn't "do" anything.
In fact, he turned the notion down initially and had to be convinced by a public lobby - strongly.
So, lets set that straight.
Secondly, anyone on planet earth right now knows that FAU has just about taken over the Sun Belt and will only get much better next year.
Which begs the question of "Why is Jarvis STILL NOT SIGNED past May, 2012 when his contract runs out?".
A solid administrator takes care of those who take care of the programs they oversee, in a fair, equitable, and timely manner; thereby securing the continued performance Alumni, Community, Fans, and Students love to participate in and enjoy.
Argue that has been done - especially considering Jarvis' attorney keeps waving away the crumb laden & coffee stained renewal contract offers he is getting tossed at him.

The irony is that the man responsible for fundraising to get us the facilities and resources to reach "the stars" is the man he hates so much, Howard.
Seriously though, know you know where you want the program to go, what are you going to do to help them get there? Flaming on a forum does nothing to improve our weight room but checks do, involved alumni do, season tickets do. so what's the plan? It doesn't just happen with a snap of the fingers. Once you get out of college, they stop handing out trophies to everyone.
I agree with this 100%! Now, I may be out in front of my skis here, but I assume EVERYONE on this message board is a booster to the program, if not, your opinion means very little to me when bitching and moaning about what happens. And by booster, I don't care if you donate $5, $50, $500 or $5,000, just give something and check if your company will match your donations.

Saw on Twitter this morning that we offered the 5'10" 175lb WR/CB combo player with 4.39 speed last night
"Mikey Bullard accounted for 179 rushing yards, 40 receiving yards and three touchdowns on just eight touches as host Forest Hill routed Berean Christian 48-0 in a nondistrict football game Monday."
Seems explosive
Per Chris Nee over at Rivals.com
West Palm Beach (Fla.) Forest Hill wide receiver Mike Bullard landed an offer from Carl Pelini and Florida Atlantic last week. It took him just a few days to decide that is where he wants to be.
He chose the Owls over offers from Memphis, Tulane, and Western Michigan. He also drew interest from Louisian Tech, Robert Morris, and UTEP.
My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

It is possible this kid did not get many looks and his coach (or family) didn't do or have time to do much to promote him.

But, it is interesting that all four of the latest commits have a combined zero stars.
And, they have all come under the new staff.
Not that it matters! Have always held stars are virtually meaningless.
Surprised no one has has chimed in on this…….
It's almost as good as the running color war debate (red vs blue)

Way too early to judge this first class. The few recruits he has thus far aren't exactly earth shattering (although it is a good sign that we got commits that had offers from a few lower level BCS schools (Iowa State, Indiana) ) - but FAU will always get this caliber recruit. Let's see how the class fills out. But according to the head man himself:
""We should be the first choice of these players," Pelini wrote. "We need to keep them home. If we do this and win a couple BCS-level players each year we will begin to take advantage of the recruiting base."
See FIU's recruiting classes for the past several years - they get a chunk of "under the radar" players, but also fill in their classes with some relatively highly recruited players. Coach knows recruiting has to improve. It's not going to happen overnight and it probably won't necessarily happen with this class. Next year's class is going to be the one to really watch to see what I believe will be a significant uptick in our recruiting. The man doesn't even have a full staff yet - we have to give him time.
