LB prospect coming for a visit.

Yep

Got it.  Rick, you have any idea what the coaching staff is doing with these kids when they come to visit?  They come Friday thru Sunday?

Teambeer is the most knowledgeable FAU sports fan I know, way smarter than me.

I'm hearing that we havent contacted some of our recruits so they are now looking at other schools… Is this a good message to send?

Are you referring to recruits that have or have not been offered?  Either way it's not good.  I'm just curious.

I think they are talking about people who were recruited by the previous coaching staff and already verbally commited to us… I think its poor form to simply not contact a recruit… If the new coaches do not like him, at least tell the kid so he can move foward with a clear mind.

I'd agree with that.  If the player doesn't fit our new offense/defense, talk to him.

Re: LB prospect coming for a visit.

Do we have any names of players who gave us a verbal with Howard but have not heard from CP? I wonder if Colton Kane is one of them. I know we were excited about this kid but the update I read on here not too long ago said he hadn't been contacted. Pelini may have gotten his QB and didn't want to bother with Kane. I obviously don't know that for sure, just throwing out ideas

My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

Kane is part of the 2011 class and has already signed an LOI .

I wonder if, and this is kind of a shoddy excuse, but maybe Pelini wants the individual coaches at that position to figure out if they want to retain the recruit?

I can't think of any other reason. Pelini doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who's afraid to tell a recruit they went a different direction. And he has to know about them since he had access to all the recruiting information that Coach V had (not to mention Allen is still with the staff)

Re: LB prospect coming for a visit.

Ehhhh

Im ok with it. I do think it would be proper to call a recruit if they are pulling his offer (see TJ Moon) but it doesnt sound like this was done. It sounds like the person got miffed that he was'nt personally contacted, so he took his ball and went home. Thats fine that is his choice.

As Owlcountry said, perhpas they were waiting for the position coach to get in place. Perhaps there is another player they want more. The staff has done a great job from what we can see of getting out to the schools. If one recruit falls thru the cracks and doesnt get contacted, I dont see how we can say the coaching staff isnt doing its job.

Recruting is a 2 way street. A lot of the kids keep schools hanging on to the last minute playing them off of each other. Its a dirty buisness but one schools and athletes are stuck with.

I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick @$$ and I'm out of bubble gum.

Re: LB prospect coming for a visit.

It is a dirty business, owlfamily, with both sides saying whatever they can to keep the other side interested. From what I have seen and read, Coach Pelini is a man of his word and is not going to promise something he may not have the ability to follow through on.
