Re: MAC - Recruiting Florida

• Of the 412 receivers, cornerbacks or safeties on MAC rosters this fall, almost one in five (78) are Floridians. By comparison, only seven of the conference’s 219 offensive linemen are from here. "We're not in short supply of big human beings," NIU coach Rod Carey said. "We're in short supply of guys that can run fast."

Haha great line. Thanks for the link.

Re: MAC - Recruiting Florida

I talked to a freshman this winter break at work and he picked Bowling Green over FAU and his dad wished he stay closer to home but he said Bowling Green had the better football team. Kinda hurts just like this article but it's only a matter of time. I told him to enjoy your snow and your bowl game but I 'm going to beach after work in December.

I was going to try and guess who…. then realized 8 kids from Florida signed with them last year.

Re: MAC - Recruiting Florida

We keep talking about snow as if every football player thinks winter is a deal-breaker. Clearly it's not.

(And yes, I've lived in snow)

Yes, it's cold, and yes, it's a PITA sometimes (e.g. driving on icy roads), but living in a place with a genuine winter also has a ton of advantages like snowball fights/skiing/sledding/snowboarding/snowmobiling.

If I'm doing three-a-days, I'd rather be doing them in 50-60 degree weather than 90+ degrees. The summers down here can be absolutely brutal; I can understand why players might want the change and aren't frightened off by the cold.

Exactly it's not a pitch we can use everytime to get a recruit to stay here. Living in East Tennessee I love it up here. The winters aren't that bad and it snows every once in awhile. Some players like the change others just like being close to home. It's give or take basically

I kick cancers ass and that's all there is to it..

Re: MAC - Recruiting Florida

He got red shirted and sat the pine, he was a big dude and probably would have played for our sub par defense, I know weather is not the deciding factor. But it is awesome here and I have never seen snow and don't care too. My thought is to recruit with what ever weapons you have. New stadium, weather, great school. Empty the guns.

Re: MAC - Recruiting Florida

What we need to do is flip the situation and start recruiting some of thier "big human beings" to come down from MAC country to play OL/DL in Boca.  We would have a lot of sucess recruiting kids from Ohio.

Not true! I work in ohio and Pa. And Indiana a lot. Most kids up there are diehard fans to the big ten or there state university and if they can't go there they stay close.
