Three Star New Orleans QB Justice McCoy Commits to FAU Football's Soar 17

Also take in the fact when he was competing and looked like he was going to win the starting job at FSU he was going against the first team D which is a bit little better than the FAU 1st team D.

Again I don't want to come off as anti Driskel I just think the bar has been raised considerably.

GO OWLS!

Are you seriously thinking Driskel is on the same level as Johnson, c'mon man!

one was most likely going to be the starter for FSU and they other had to battle to start at FAU, APPLES and oranges.

People develop differently at different times.

Same level in terms of raw athletic ability?  No.  But there are many dynamics to the QB position.  Reading coverage, leadership, ability to learn the playbook, fit in the offense, football IQ,  etc.

We will see, all I am saying is Driskell grew a lot last year and may have the goods to keep his job.

Just because a kid recieved a scholarship from FSU doesn't automatically make him better than a kid at FAU.  We have had many players in the past that could've started at FSU as juniors and seniors.

It is not apples vs. oranges when you compare our starting players in a lot of scenarios.  Mostly, its apples vs. oranges in terms of depth.

I am not anti Driskel, I agree he improved but I couldn't disagree more on the statement regarding the FSU scholarship.  Actually it does to virtually everyone.

I agree with the depth issue but to say Johnson and Driskel are equals is crazy IMO.

The limited scholarships a program can offer is what keeps our starters in the same league as FSU, UF or Miami.  The difference between them is not that great.  They are all incredibly high acheiving athletes.  Its the depth, it is not a debate.

You have a lot of confidence in a kid that you have NEVER seen take a D1 snap at QB.  I just watched a RS Sophomore play well and grow behind a beat down offensive line using guys not ready to play D1 football.

I am not ready to say, by any stretch that because he was offered by FSU that he is better than Driskell.  To assume so…is just that, assuming.

Driskell is going into his 3rd season with 3 new offensive coordinators and incredibly questionable line play.  Not to mention a defense that had him CONSTANTLY playing from behind.

I hope Johnson is the next Warren Moon (he already has the domestic part down).  But lets not get all crazy and throw Driskell to the dumps quite yet.

Now you guys have me cheering for the kid.  I hope he beats Johnson badly in spring ball and takes the starting job.  Who cares if stupid FSU offered him.

QB is such  weird position.

It is the only position where you can throw out any rankings guys can simply have all the skills and just be awful at the position.
Lets just look at Jeremy Johnson at Auburn who was highly touted recruit but could not start here.

Driskell grew a ton last year and other that some turnovers he played really well.

You can not say it was just because the online settled down a motor was playing well because Parr did not even flash the slightest bit of raw talent in his chances last year.

I am beginning to wonder if he was just a product of the talent a Dwyer.
If you want to see a QB that I think will bomb in college and I only good because of talent around Jake Allen the St. Thomas UF commit.
He has 6-7 or D-1 skills guys around him and anytime he played a school of equal talent he wasn't good.

Not sure why you are taking this so personally, it's a difference of opinion.

I am by no means rooting against Driskell. I believe all the QB's will start on a equal playing field to start the spring, and Kiffin will develop his own feelings on who the qb is. The QB battle will be a lot of fun this year because Kiffin wont be afraid to turn to anyone.

Driskell did show some improvement throughout last year, and I thought he was miles ahead of Parr. But his decision making can be suspect at times, and his lack of ever putting touch on his passes. Always seems to try to gun every throw in even when it called for more touch.

I am confident whoever wins the job will be the guy who gives us the best chance to win.

But I think we all agree 100% that QB looks strong for next year. RB looks strong for next year. OL improved greatly as year went on. Receivers all come back except for TE Cameron.

ADD in Kiffin and possibly Briles and …..WOW is a definate possibilty!

Hahaha, I dont know.  I dont really mind FSU, I just want Driskell to get a fair shot.  He worked hard last year through a crap season, made me proud.

He did work hard and played pretty well. I want a close competition so that they are pushing each other to be better;  result - TWO good QB's for depth!
