Wide Receiver Fred Eaford Commits to FAU Football Class of 2021
For the second week in a row, Florida Atlantic Football fans get some big recruiting news on a Friday afternoon.
Deerfield Beach, FL wide receiver Frederick Eaford announced his decision to commit to the Owls via social media, choosing FAU over offers from Lousiville, Indiana, Miami, and many more.
''Coach Taggart, Coach Woodie, Coach Perkins, and the rest of the staff have welcomed me with open arms,'' Eaford said in his Twitter post.
The one time Miami commit immediately becomes FAU's the highest-ranked verbal commit in the 2021 class.
The three-star receiver ranks as the 92nd best player in the state of Florida and the 105th best receiver in the entire country according to 247Sports' composite rankings with a rating of .8642.
FAU recruiting coordinator and outside linebacker coach Raymond Woodie, who recruits Deerfield Beach high school, was critical in landing Earfod's pledge.
"Coach Woodie and I have a really strong relationship. We talked about everything from football, my life, and staying close to home with my Grandma.''
As always, FAU head coach Willie Taggart was crucial in closing the top-ranked prospect.
''Coach Taggart told me how excited he is for me to come,'' said Eaford.
Coach Taggart also emphasized everything the program and what Florida Atlantic has to offer.
This commit will most likely bump FAU into the number one spot on 247Sports' Conference USA recruiting rankings, passing UTSA, who has an equal 13 public verbal commits.
It will also propel coach Raymond Woodie into one of the top-rated recruiters in C-USA with his 5th commit of the 2021 cycle.
Eaford becomes the second receiver pledge of the 2021 class, joining fellow Broward native Jahmal Edrine. He also becomes the second Deerfield Beach Buck of the class, joining linebacker Justice Cross.
