Did you even read that article? Every one who wanted him backed off for some reason, seems like an academic scandal. They were his only option

If you cant get into West Virginia due to academic issues….you've got problems.

Just because a Florida kid leaves the state doesn't make it a FAU recruiting failure.  Some kids want to leave.  There are about 300 plus Florida kids who go on to play division 1 football, they all can't come here.  Who should we cut to get this genius?

If you read the Charleston Gazette article that the NBC article linked to, colleges seem wise to distance themselves from Miramar. He also shows immaturity in the way he decommitted, and I think that turned some schools away.
