I assume he has to sit this yr, but think he could make a huge impact next yr

Not sure if this is true. Stallings was never actually a member of the Illinois football program due to his grey-shirt status. If he had enrolled in classes this semester and took part in team meetings and workouts, you would be right. However, the new coaching staff came in and told him that his "grey-shirt" offer was no longer on the table. Stallings can enroll at FAU in the summer and have 4-years of eligibility and a red-shirt still available.

CP could have done the same thing to Colton Kane. He could have told him his "grey-shirt" offer was no longer on the table, and Kane would have had to find another place to play. It's a dirty field, but that's what happens when coaching staffs transition.
