FAU is known lol. We have 30,000 students from all over the world, we are not a small school by any stretch of the imagination. I live in the NE, I can't tell you how many HS Seniors apply to FAU. I agree with a lot of Rob's points, but one I don't agree with is Orlando > Boca. I think most people prefer South Florida to Central Florida.Posted On: Aug 7th 2020, 4:46 PM #395617
How can you have 30K from around the world when only 8% of your students are non US residents? UCF has higher % by the way.
Also FAU is full 7 miles one way further than UCF is to airport. 14 miles both ways.

not sure what you mean. We have 30,000 students, 8% being non residents would indicate 2400 from other countries… hence all around the world. Never said UCF did not or that FAU has more.rob2313 said

I’m not sure what the fetish is with airports, but if that’s your reasoning for Orlando being a better location than Boca, have at it.

Nice try, that does not apply to that school. They are not into the american traditions. Trust me, I am hispanic.
Just my opinion.
ROB2313:Sorry but Palm is about as good as Orange, still very good but Miami dade is best.
I guess that's why FAU has always the better recruiting classes.
2015 FAU#2 vs FIU#7
2016 FAU#3 vs FIU#10
2017 FAU#1 vs FIU #5
2018 FAU#3 vs FIU#1 (ok, once in a while it is fine)
2019 FAU#1 vs FIU#9
2020 FAU#1 vs FIU#4
2021 FAU#1 vs FIU#7 TBD
ROB2313:Airport due to access and having to bus players to and from with an escort (which costs $$$)
Come on man, it is only 12 more miles and we are between 2 airports and there is a private airport right behind FAU's stadium.
anyways, time will tell.

Don't believe me but ECU had that issue and distance to an airport capable to filing full FB team is a factor to get into AAC. I just know when ADs and Presidents had to validate chooses academics and airports were an explanation. Some of these rules yes are crazy if you applied them to some P5 teams but they are god-fathered in.Local Owl said
I've read bits and pieces of this conversation . I never read posts that are too long. Lots of points that had me shaking my head. But the silliest is the air port thing. I've watched games all over the country . At some of the most premiere programs. Some universities are not easy to get to. I'm certain airports are not a factor.Posted On: Aug 9th 2020, 7:46 AM #395629
If Kansas State had to go thru the same criteria they along with many other P5 schools would not be promoted.
End of the day conferences wants to bring in schools that make most $ yet don't cost them $ to travel to for ALL their sports. A few miles does not seem like much but factor in escort time then factor in every sport times every contest and it is money wasted. Before you say we don't need an escort, IN THE AAC you will since we demand more from members.
College FB is about $$. If Team A brings in 10K but costs 5K to travel, its not as good as team that brings in 8K yet cost 2K. Revenue and Costs are always a factor.

Lets look at the last 3 schools that got promoted, Louisville, TCU, and Utah. They entered their respective P5 conferences in 2011 and 2012. Those programs have been in the P5 for 23 total seasons. None have won a conference championship, None have made the playoff. And, although there have been some great seasons like TCU one year, they haven't replaced the top teams as the team to beat. None are the first few teams you think of when talking about the Pac 12, Big 12, or ACC. And none of those teams has ever had a top 20 recruiting class.
To me that's a sign that the P5 powerhouses don't necessarily want some school that has an us against the world mentality. UCF has big ambitions. And frankly, I can see why a P5 conference might not want a school like that.
UCF has done all any G5 team could possibly do and there's not even the slightest whisper that they have any shot to move up. If someone did move up, I don't think it would be someone with such huge ambitions. UCF would have goals to take over their conference.
And, as I've mentioned, the fake National Championship parade and things like that were probably because they already were blackballed by the P5. There's a serious chance that UCF is blackballed and that there's no "advantages" they could have over anyone that would make a difference.
Houston hasn't moved up. They have a Heisman Trophy winner and top 10 finishes, their highest being 6th. And all of those head to head comparisons between UCF and Houston would basically all go Houston's way. They're a huge city.

Like I’ve said, if it’s true UCF has a reason to go full on angry child mode, then that is not bad.
We can position ourselves in the coming year’s to maybe have a shot. If you think about it, there’s a possibility we’re in a really good spot. If UCF never moves up, we can be the most attractive possible candidate In Florida. We have an amazing location. There’s also things like possible building on 20th Street and more dorms and maybe even stadium expansion for non football purposes like concerts. The complaining by “reporters” doesn’t look good. Let’s let UCF do that while we position ourselves as the most attractive G5 team in the state. Again, I might be wrong, but it really could be UCF is blackballed.

I guess I was right about Rob being MIA when the Knights got hit in the mouth. By the way, I don’t see UCF in the top 25.
