FAU @ Purdue (Anyone Planning on Attending?)

Post

I was reviewing the schedule and saw Purdue. I am an FAU Alumnus,  my sister is a Purdue alumnus, and I currently live in Indiana. Any midwestern Owls planning on attending the game? I would love to make the game and meet up. Let me know who is interested and I will try to make it work.

It’s about a 4 hour drive from us. I’m going to try to convince the wife but the our 1 year old makes it more challenging.

I remember you.
I still live in the same place in Illinois. I was planning on going. I think it is a 2 1/2 to 3 hour drive. I’ve been to Lafayette and the surrounding area when I worked for ADM.
Hopefully FAU will have a tent up like they usually do at away games.

Same boat. 2.5 year old and a 6 month old. I am hoping by September I can get out of the house and to the game.

Yes, I have bounced around a bit. I am currently in Indiana. It is about 3.5 to 4 hours for me. I have it on my calendar. Depends on wife and kids. Hopefully it will be a go.

I will be at Purdue hosting the pre-game gathering. It will not be on-site  – the cost is too pricey to be on-site inclusive of tent rental (or purchase), catering, drinks, and parking spot. I will host something at a restaurant off-site, and it will end about 90 minutes before kickoff. Did you receive the FAU Alumni email? If you didn't, we don't have your updated email address and zip code (we sent a zip code based email last week or the week before)

Unfortunately, we haven't done this in a while except for Oklahoma and Ohio State. The cost is sooooooooo high, and it's a gentle balance between allowing only Alumni paying members vs. using it as an alumni membership recruiting event. But, overall, the cost is sooo high. Example: when I priced out Purdue, it's going to be over $1,000 to "do it right." $250 for the parking space alone, and then have to buy the tables, tents, chairs, food, beverages, etc.

I plan on being there. I got the email. Last time I had a chance to do this at an away game was Michigan State. There was a tent at that game.
I'm really hoping you can have something for next year at Illinois.

I just bought my ticket for the Purdue game from the FAU ticket office.
Does anyone know if the University is recommending any particular hotel in Lafayette? I'd like to stay where other FAU alumni and staff are going to be.
Its still a bit early. If anyone finds out, please post it on here.

Update:
I just looked at Purdue's schedule. Our game is their homecoming. There are hardly any hotel rooms available in Lafayette for that weekend as of this post. If you are going, you had better start looking for a place to stay soon.
