Fearless Predictions 2024: Week 4 FAU vs UConn

Post

Seems like the season just started but we are already one third of the way into things, with another intriguing match-up in sight.

The Huskies have hard a hard time defending the pass, but the Owls haven't really been lighting it up there either.

Couple these facets together though, and you may have the makings of a breakout game for Cam Fancher. This will be the wildcard next weekend.

UConn appears to be strong on both sides of the line, and will challenge the Owls on the ground with and without the ball. They have eight chunk plays of 10+ yards pounding the rock against Duke last weekend.

However, they are barely over 50% through the air, and given the FAU secondary being a strength - with or without Daedae Hill - that match-up favors the Owls.

With field position for both teams being a potential factor, FAU could have to rely more on the kicking game.

This contest has the makings of coming down to the simple matter of who can execute better.

Like Richardson last season at USF, Fancher is due for a breakout game through the air.

Like the line, going with the Owls in a nailbiter.

If we can continue the run game, it’ll open up the pass. Agree, may be Fancher’s breakthrough game passing. D has a pick or two and D line has 2-3 sacks. Owls Win 27-21.

I just pray Fancher remembers he can throw a football

UConn is better this year than they have been in a long time. I still think we have a long way to go especially on offense. I’m not confident but given that these predictions are fearless, I’ll say our D shows up big and saves our arses. 14-10 Owls in a super close one

Again, I don't pick against FAU unless they are playing a P5 team.
FAU has the tools to beat UCONN.

Even though it’s not a conference game I see this as a must win. I don’t see a realistic path to bowl eligibility otherwise.

Based on how this team has played on the road the last few years I don’t see us getting it done.

I think we will see much of the same. Defense does enough to keep us in the game, but it’s not enough to win. If the defense doesn’t score or cause short fields I don’t see the offense scoring more than 20.

Well that's one guy we don't have to worry about winning this week's Prediction Post

 :Big-Grin:

BTW, every prediction I have seen has FAU winning except ESPN's. Not arguing just saying you are def in the minority - but you could also cash in!

Here's some numbers I follow closely:

We haven’t won games on the road consistently since Kiffin. So until I see happen more often I am going to be skeptical

I feel like we squeak this one out but, in a way that still makes us seem doomed. 20-19, FAU!
