2014 & Future Football Schedules

I agree that 1 or 2 "money" big time OOC games are good early. I just would like to break it up with a "softer" team in the middle of that OOC schedlue so that instead of 1-3 your 2 and 2 or something along those lines.

I think UAB was supposed to be that "softer" game last year.

It was but we need 2 of those instead of 1.  ;D

Heck if we dont want a FCS team schedule another CUSA or MAC team,

2 BCS confrence and 2 Mid Major teams would be ideal.

Re: 2009 Football & Future Schedules

UNC's record last year was 8-5 not exactly one of the bottom teams in the ACC.  And they are improving every year just FYI

Exactly.  They aren't in Duke's class anymore, not with Butch in charge.  We would be better suited vs. Duke who is in transition, or a MAC/CUSA team.  Any of them, it doesn't matter.

What is Duke in transition to?  They have been the same horrible team for the last 25 yeats.

Re: 2009 Football & Future Schedules

Well since Duke and UNC are not sounding like fan favorites….how about hosting Rutgers? They need three OOC games. They have played at smaller stadiums. They're a decent 1a school. Or does everyone agree that we should play BCC or FAMU?  It would be interesting to see the results of a poll. Something like: "Who would you choose as FAU's home opener? FAMU, BCC, DUKE, UNC, RUTGERS. or something like that. I would honestly and sincerely be surprised if the majority chose a bull-crap game like BCC, than a real game against a program with moderate clout.

Re: 2009 Football & Future Schedules

I think we got lucky this year with the bowl game, we may not have the same luck next year, we need to up the record. But on the same level, I don't think a BCC or FAMU team is the way to go, nor a BCS team, I too think a mid USA/MAC team, where we can have a real game, and come out with a win.

Apparently RU won't play FAU. But that was several years ago when I asked that question. They don't want to come into our house and lose - thus losing recruiting leverage.

Re: 2009 Football & Future Schedules

In the C-USA and MAC, here are the following schools that still need an OOC:

C-USA
Houston, Memphis, Tulsa, Tulane
MAC
Akron, Ohio, Central Michigan, Ball State, Western Michigan

ONLY the University of Ohio Bobcats need an away OOC game. The Bobcats finished the '08 season ranked 98th in the nation with their 4-8 (3-5) record, which included a loss to Central Michigan. Any thoughts on the U. of Ohio?
