To add to previous reply regarding the short C-USA statement sent to media a while back, it was likely done was for legal and public space purposes to put the "three-o of potential departees" on notice.
ODU (42M athletics) is the cash richest of the bunch it appears. And Maybe Marshall (30M) can muster something up, but I honestly have zero idea how USM (~25M) would pay a multi-million dollar leave early penalty given their budget and fundraising unless the SBC is waiving something on the front end so that it is essentially a wash in the end. Or maybe far less than current terms present in early C-USA departure.

No, we're set on honoring the timeline - unless leadership has changed their mind since last speaking with many of them. There was no interest/chance of us leaving early.

It does seem we could reap some benefit from those 3 leaving early and their breach penalty they will have to pay to CUSA which we are still a member of in good standing. I believe these penalties are then shared with conference members, should help us pay our departure fee.Posted On: Feb 14th 2022, 9:12 AM #406769
I’d hope so but C-USA is a sinking ship they can use all the money they can get. They are literally pinning all of their hopes on one program. Liberty.

Gonna get ugly and don't see why they think they can FORCE CUSA to talk or negotiate.

That is true but let's take a bunch of their $$$ on their way out! I see CUSA having grounds for damages for breach and now ungrounded litigation, not the other way around as the three Belt losers are gonna claim.Posted On: Feb 23rd 2022, 11:45 AM #406861
We aren't getting any of the money. Going to the league office and remaining 5 members
