Pitbull Buys Naming Rights to FIU Stadium

Post

1.2 minus whatever those boxes are worth.

Minus whatever damage they do to the grass in those ten events.

305? More like 645…

…but 1.2, I'd take that over our nothing.

We could’ve stuck with GEO Group before our old admin caved to a bunch of know nothing students that didn’t attend a single football game

Office Depot, ADT, and Celsius are all billion dollar brands that could put up some good money for naming rights based out in Boca. We could have gotten free money over the past decade naming the stadium…wasted opportunity

Celsius would be a huge get.

If you go under naming opportunities under the paradise club on fau sports you can see what FAU is asking for in naming opportunities. Like naming rights is 25 million I think I heard last at five years but maybe Rick or Robbie can confirm that. I think at this stage asking for just 15 million for a five year commitment would be a great get since you can no longer longer use large donations as tax exemptions especially if they garner you seats. You still get the tax write if you call it a gift but I’m waiting on my brother to confirm that because my research on the internet was confusing results.

honestly 1.2 mill a yr for naming rights doesn't really move the meter…. we need a big year (ie basketball's Final Four) before we can capitalize and approach a business for rights money…. so until we contend for a conference title, get into the national rankings, etc we're gonna be in a holding pattern….

As long as White is at FAU we will not get one sponsorship,  I feel he's a mid to low level ad. He will bounce soon and tbh it might be best for both parties.  Let this sink in, Kiffin instantly gave us a presence, we got into the American and made a Final FOur but I feel we are not moving the needle.  Lower level schools are getting new jerseys almost overnight, scheduling 1 and 1  power 5 games, and their season ticket holders are benefiting with more themed giveaways.

Think when was the last time you received an FAU bobblehead at an FAU game? Let alone a paper helmet fan which have been around since the Schnellenberger days.  The stadium is falling apart lots of paint damage and other things we should have take care of.  Got my season tickets, but theres some hidden donation tied in, very clever Mr. White.Secret fees we cants opt out of for a losing football team.  If FIU had some of our success and support they would be in the American, not us.  Its really sad.

Basketball was the only thing getting us street cred, now that is different.  Look go to the first game and barely get a paper schedule, then you will see what i mean. I believe we have regressed.  USF and others are ready for the next aligned shift, we are not ready. FIU beat us at naming a stadium, I know otheres here will beat them down but they made a boss move, MR. WHITE you are on the clock.

White's administration has raised more money than any AD before him, it's not even close.

What exactly are you basing this opinion on?

I have to agree. White got a sponsorship for the Burrow with Eleanor Baldwin, the Hagerty Family village, some upgrades to the baseball stadium and a whole lot of donations which is great.

But the football stadium is still without a name and outside team areas, lighting and sound it’s needs a serious renovation. Also why no app yet for Athletics for general fans? Plenty of teams are moving to apps for game days and seamless ticketing. I mean is it really expensive to develop an app?

I dont think he’s on the clock. The move with Pitbull for FIU is more about brand recognition than it is about paying bills. 1.2 million a year for five years is not a lot. Can Mr. White possibly lower the cost for naming rights absolutely but from what I heard today there’s no chance of that happening because of renovations needed for the stadium.

Brian White has done an incredible job at FAU and the administration knows it.

I hope he stays with us, but I am sure he is being looked at already due to his success with football, men’s basketball and other sports coach hires.

Look how far we have come in athletics just in the past 5 years with fund raising and NIL awareness.

Agreed. But I think what has a lot of fans wondering is when is the stadium going to gets its name? Other than the Geo Group and old administration in athletics pushing away donors for more money than the initial offer was it’s been 13 years this October. That money can go towards renovating parts of the stadium. So here’s an idea. Just until someone comes along. Let’s name the stadium after the military base site that was once there that the airport and university now sit. Boca Raton Army Airfield Stadium at Howard Schnellenberger Field.
