Top 5 transfer destinations for Taulia Tagovailoa

Post

i know we are set at QB, but who doesn’t like a little competition? Plus rather him here than FIU, also on the list.

Top 5 transfer destinations for Taulia Tagovailoa

“Closer to family, but not too close,” would be the sentiment if Taulia transferred to Boca Raton’s FAU.

The quarterback situation there seems to be set on junior Chris Robinson. He threw for 3,701 yards on 291 completions from 471 attempts for 28 touchdowns and six interceptions in 2019.

It could be a difficult challenge for Taulia, especially since Robinson led the Owls to a 2019 win the the Boca Raton Bowl over an impressive SMU team.

Assuming Taggart forces every starting player to re-compete for the jobs they held in 2019, Taulia might have a shot at earning the position.

There is only one way Taulia doesn’t garner attention from being at a school that went from Lane Kiffin to Willie Taggart. That would be if they are average, or bad, with a quarterback that doesn’t carry much weight on a national scale. This would lead the program to sink back into the shadows of the group of five realm.

Yes, Robinson appears to be the favorite for the starting job. However, Willie Taggart makes his debut as the Owls’ head coach in 2020 and could look to change things up. After what happened at FSU, he may look to take a different approach to ensure he puts the best team possible on the field.

Good post SCowl!

My thoughts…

First off, he's going to have to sit a year unless he get's a hopeful "one time transfer waiver"…

The Board Of Governors working group's stance as of this time is as follows:

"The waiver working group also recommended the board lift the moratorium on transfer legislation to allow the membership to consider proposals that could provide permanent access to the one-time transfer opportunity for all Division I student-athletes.

The board agreed to lift the moratorium on transfer legislation for the 2020-21 legislative cycle but recommended to the Council that changes to the waiver process as suggested by the working group are not appropriate at this time. Board members recommended the waiver process be sensitive to student-athlete well-being, especially those impacted by COVID-19 in the interim period."

Of note, the Division I Council can go another way if they choose to do so.

That said, 247 needs to do a better job with screening their writers, as shown by another article on the subject:

"On the other hand, while the Miami area might make most sense for Tagovailoa, who says the Power Five/ACC Hurricanes have to be the landing spot? As Reier noted, Tagovailoa could go the Group of Five route, with the C-USA's Florida Atlantic and the Sun Belt's Florida International, where former Power Five coaches Willie Taggart (Oregon, Florida State) and Butch Davis (Miami, North Carolina) are respectively at the helm."

Anyway, like Chris as our guy given his dramatic change in lifestyle and right to lead the team…however, hope that Tua 2.0 lands at FIU, as the league is weak right now and his addition would be a boost - albeit for our chief rival.

If he joins them this year, we'll have a chance to whoop them with a QB. Otherwise, we'll whoop them even more - as they have no chance without a transfer.

I'm happy we are in the conversation. Maybe I'm wrong, but i feel like we are capable  of landing a quality qb when ever the need arises. Hopefully we are grooming the qb of the future now.

There’s no bad publicity. Especially at this point when we’re getting really close to talk of moving up conferences.

We talked about Taulia extensively in this week's pod. There's a lot of moving parts that make Little Tua's addition interesting. If you haven't read Shane's story last week about the size of FAU's roster, you can do so here.

Gotta say UCF seems like his best option!

USF looks like his best option. Ucf has Gabriel, who may have been the best freshman qb last year. USF hired Jeff Scott. 4 hours won’t be too much for the tua family to drive.

Idk. I think if his goal is to be close to his family he should pick one of the 3 schools in South Florida. Tampa to Miami isn't I'm going home for dinner close.

So much for the travel plan, and practically every media outlet's "look" - including ours.

Just goes to show you how complex "prognostication life" can be without inside information…

That said, good luck with Mike (6-40 as head coach).
