Dylan Mcaffery just entered the transfer portal. Would love to get him. I’m sure he’ll have a lot of opportunities with bigger suitors but who knows. I would have liked to have gotten Perry too before he decided to return to Miami.

Perry is finishing classes and then entering the portal again

Doesn’t mean he’ll be coming here.

But it does mean he COULD come here

Stupid question but if you transfer and walk-on that does not count towards the class correct? Also when you hear of walk-ons getting the scholarship years later do they count towards a signing class?

Walk ons dont count when they enroll but when they get the scholarship down the line they count towards the 85 total scholarship players on the roster

Walk-ons have to be in school for two years before being given a scholarship and not counting against a 25 man class.

For example, BJ Alexander transferred here as a walk-on, but if he were given a scholarship at the end of this fall camp, FAU would have to count him towards 2021 or possibly even the 2022 class.

I remember FAU placed Tronti on scholarship in the summer of 2019 after he arrived in summer of 2018. So would he have retroactively counted toward 2018?

Most of the time they try and count it forward.

An example of this is when Lane took Jeff James over the summer of 2019. He counted as part of the 2020 class and forced FAU to push guys forward to 2021.

Someone like Jaden Wheeler could have been here all of last year if they did not add a player who was here for one semester.

How they move it around it a little complex and would require someone in compliance to explain all the rules, but he was most likely counted at part of the 2019 class.

Thanks for the info guys. Complex rules that I know so little about.

NCAA has this area ALL F…ed up as usual. Many schools having a shortage of players this year due to NOT having 85 scollys (NOT due to violations reduction!) and the Covid situation nearly crippled them.Coaches and AD's are upset and WILL get this fixed…someday! In the meantime, HS players get left out!

The NCAA has pushed back against open transfer knowing these consequences, but people wanted it and now is basically saying ''deal with it' when it comes to all the issues that stem from it.

They could easily fix it by allowing 5 spots per school just for transfers or allowing teams to take a transfer for every one they lose, but other issues stem from those solutions as well.
