FAU: Major Announcement Comes Tuesday | Boca News Now

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) — BocaNewsNow.com has learned that Florida Atlantic University is set to announce receipt of the largest gift in the history of the school. No word how much the school is set to receive, or the identity of the donor seeking a massive 2014 tax deduction — but a look at the speaking roster suggests it may have something to do with sports.

The announcement is set to be made Tuesday afternoon by FAU President John Kelly, Vice President of Athletics Patrick Chun and Head Football Coach Charlie Partridge.

As one who works in the Private Wealth Management sector you would not BELIEVE the lengths people with money will go too in order to reduce tax load. #dontlookagifthorseinthemouth

I'm pretty sure that was just a snarky line thrown in by the Boca News author….

Not to be Debbie Downer on this, but does athletics and the administration speak regarding the scheduling of home games?

As a season ticket holder, I was disappointed in the turnout in the student section to say the least at the final home game, but after further research, FAU has re-instituted Reading Day(s), and they are December 1-3, so a student could have conceivably had no classes for a week including Thanksgiving.

Why would a student come back with the match-up being Old Dominion instead of either staying home for an additional few days or going to party in either Tallahassee or Gainesville depending on the location of that game.

Just a thought…

And the academic support will help so much in recruiting and RETAINING talent! One huge edge Marshall has had on us for years is this very thing, we will pull even with Marshall on this front! the field is leveling for us guys. Any word on how long this project will take, we need it like three years ago!

A very good point I had worried about as well. We need more early season home games to help build a winning record and need to try to not schedule home games during breaks, if possible.
