Jackson Trapp hit the game winning three-pointer with 3.2 seconds left to give the Florida Atlantic University men’s basketball team a 63-61 win over Louisiana Tech on Saturday night.

After overcoming what had been a 24-point deficit to take a 60-58 lead, the Owls (4-14, 2-3 Conference USA) allowed the Bulldogs (13-5, 2-3) to convert a three-point play and retake the lead 61-60 with 21 seconds left, setting the stage for Trapp’s heroics.

Trapp’s game-winner was his only field goal of the night. He had been 0-7 from the field and 0-3 from three-point range up until that time.

I was believing that this team did not even have the potential to win in this conference. When something like this happens, the question of potential is eliminated. They just proved the potential is there. This win will also give a much needed boost in confidence. Both from the players and coaches. Wish I was there to see it. Games like this are very exciting. Coaches need to use this win and keep it going. Still in shock

Owls are taking on a very strong UTEP squad tonight. The last time FAU played in El Paso, Marquan Botley scored the go-ahead three pointer with 3 seconds left in the game.

Hopefully FAU can extend their win streak to three games with a victory tonight. As always, follow the game here or on the Owls Nest Twitter page.

Owls are struggling in every facet of the game. UTEP is shooting 48% while FAU is shooting 23% right before half.

Miners lead 40-18 just before halftime.

Opening line was +7.5, but I expected +12…

Aside from UAB, this is one of the better teams we will face in league play for sure.

Owls are getting spanked. 40-20 UTEP at the half.

Happened last game too... will see if Owls can rally again

Cylla and Lacunza lead FAU with 6 points each. Owls need to get big in the paint, as UTEP has earned 50% of their points under the basket and are out-rebounding the Owls 21-16.
