ODU at a Glance

Offense - 66.2 PPG, 43% FG, 30% 3PT

Rebounding - 36.9 RPG Monarchs, 34 RPG Opponents

Monarch Notables

The Owls and Monarchs may face each other for the final time, pending legal action regarding the conference and member institutions hoping to bolt for the Sun Belt Conference, less than a month after FAU dominated the Monarchs to a 81-62 scoreline.

That defeat to the Owls kicked off a stretch in which the Monarchs dropped five of six. The lone win coming in a shocking upset over UAB. Incidentally, that victory over the Blazers was the only home game of the stretch before Thursday's contest.

In fact, the Monarchs hold one of the best home records in C-USA's East Division. Their 4-2 mark at Chartway Arena is bolstered with the two losses coming from an OT defeat at the hands of UTEP and a 77-60 loss to a suddenly rising WKU club.

Last time out, ODU was upended by that same WKU team, again. This time with a more respectable scoreline, on the road no-less, losing 73-64.

ODU is lead by guard C.J. Keyser scoring 14.4 PPG and a team-high 35% 3FG. Forward Austin Trice gives chase behind Keyser shooting 12.7 PPG and a team-best 8.8 RPG.

Defense - 72.4 PPGA, 47% FGA, 38% 3PTA

49er Notables

Charlotte men's basketball team hits its home hardwood for the first of three in a row in Halton when it takes on FIU on Thursday evening, before hosting the Owls on Saturday.

A pair of victories this weekend against FIU and FAU would keep the 49ers in contention for a top two seed in the East Division heading into the season's final weekend, with the Niners playing East leaders MTSU and Southern Miss.

Senior Austin Butler has been on a bit of a scoring tear over Charlotte's last five outings, scoring in double-figures in every game and 20-plus once. In that span, the Latrobe, Pennsylvania native is averaging 16.0 points per game and has also reeled in 7.0 rebounds per outing.

Charlotte junior Jahmir Young has scored 20-plus points 15 times this season and remains the only player in Conference USA to both play in and score in double figures in every game for his team this season.

FAU at a Glance

Offense - 74.5 PPG, 46% FG, 36% 3PT

Defense - 67.3 PPGA, 44% FGA, 36% 3PTA

Rebounding - 36.7 RPG Owls, 32.2 RPG Opponents

Owl Notables

Coming off a 87-79 loss to MTSU, FAU begins a three-game road trip Thursday in Norfolk, Va. The Owls face off with Old Dominion. It's the first of four games that will determine the all-important seeding for the Conference USA Championship Tournament, coming up March 8-12 in Frisco, Texas.

FAU currently sits in third place in the C-USA East Division. The top two finishers in each division earn byes into the quarterfinal round of the C-USA Championship Tournament. Middle Tennessee State is currently in first place in the East, while Western Kentucky is in second at 9-6 and FAU is 8-6.

This is the second matchup this season between the Owls and Monarchs. FAU won the first meeting 81-62 in Boca Raton earlier this month.

FAU is 15-12 overall and 8-6 in Conference USA. FAU has matched its top mark for C-USA victories in a season, which was last accomplished in 2018-19. The Owls have four conference games remaining this season to set a new standard for CUSA success.

A winning record in 2021-22 would make Head Coach Dusty May (photo above) the first ever at FAU to coach a men's basketball team to four straight seasons above .500.

This will be a tough fight against the Monarchs, but one that is necessary for the Owls to keep their hopes of catching WKU in the East's second place spot.

LOVE this snap pass from Greenlee, finding Rosado in space for the simple bank shot.

HALFTIME in Norfolk. Game looked to be getting away from us as ODU was taking an 8-0 into the break before this impressive drive from Davis gives space along the perimeter for Greenlee to hit an uncontested three.

Welp.. the game is really getting away from us here. FAU can't bury a basket to save our lives, ODU can't miss to save theirs.

Awful ending to a bad game. Owls score only 19 points in the second half to fall to ODU 70-51.
