Radio: ESPN 106.3

UTEP Team Site: Here

Miners at a Glance:

Offense – 65.9 PPG, 42% FG, 33% 3PT

Defense – 68.9 PPGA, 42% FGA, 34% 3PTA

Rebounding - 36.5 PG, 35.5 PG Opponents

Notables

The Miners are coming off a pair of road setbacks, falling in a high-scoring contest at Marshall, 91-86, last Thursday and at WKU, 76-59, on Saturday.

Efe Odigie set a UTEP freshman record by registering his ninth double-double of the season after scoring 22 points and collecting 20 rebounds against Marshall. Fellow freshman star Nigel Hawkins averaged 19.5 points and 6.5 rebounds during his last two outings. UTEP's backup SG, Evan Gilyard, actually leads the team in PPG with 15.9, making him the eleventh best scorer in the conference.

Head Coach Rodney Terry has his hands full in his first year in El Paso as the Miners struggle offensively outside the three players mentioned above, shooting a C-USA worst 40.9% FG as a team. The Miners are second from bottom in the league table.

Owls at a Glance:

Offense – 73.1 PPG, 42% FG, 33% 3PT

Defense - 70.2 PPGA, 42% FGA, 32% 3PTA

Rebounding - 40.3 PG, 35.5 PG Opponents

Notables

With four games remaining until "Bonus Play" the Owls currently sit in the middle pod final spot. A win would certainly raise the chances of the Owls sneaking into the top pod, received for the five best teams.

FAU dropped their most recent game after rallying from a 14-point deficit in the second half. Adger lead the Owls in scoring with 19 points, while Stapleton continued his sharp shooting with 18 points.

Vegas probably doesn't have a lot of confidence of this squad on the road. I don't blame them, we've only won one CUSA game outside the State of Florida.

My mistake, Maitre is dressed for the game tonight. He will see limited playing time during this Texas road swing.

We saw some beautiful basketball from the Owls in the first 18 minutes of that half. The final two minutes… not so much.
