We caught the eye of being an ESPN2 game that year when Jarvis was coach and we hosted Arkansas State. Guess you could say there was more "influence" by names and administrative connections at that point in time. He was also VERY involved in promoting the program behind the scenes. This was also obviously before the social media explosion. People had to go to TV for live contest data as primary means.
Now they seem to only care about broadcasting games on ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU that will truly draw "national attention" and be available on an actual TV as part of the full cable / satellite subscriptions. This is also where they make the most money.
This site is a primary example of the same cycle. We used to have 35 people camped in a game day thread and now no one barely comments and doesn't even bother to show up. They read throughout the week and occasionally comment afterwards, but it's definitely not like it used to be as the information is all over the place.

With social media there are so many other types of involvement on game days.
We all really do enjoy this site and appreciate your perspective and information.
Thank you for all you do.

That was when there was no ESPN+. And now they have firm viewer numbers, as everything is online, and how much the contests are "worth" as a result.

Should be on more in the aac. The MAC gets more linear games than cusa when you include ESPNU

Would be surprised if we completely fell out of the polls. It was a quad 1 loss on the road in the 10th best conference by RPI standards.
