I must have missed the part about where it was picking up steam.

This type of talk was going on at least 10 years ago.  I chose 20th Street over 4 years ago for my location because I had heard this for so many years.  Two and a half years ago there was an announcement that they would be announcing the new name of 20th Street in October of 2014.

But don't get me wrong, now that I have some experience with the business, selfishly, I am not convinced that a FAU district on 20th Street would even be beneficial to my business.

None of it will be up to me, so however it all pans out, I will go with the flow.  I don't get too excited or concerned either way.

It always perplexes me when I read where people say there is not much to do at FAU and/or Boca Raton. When I was attending there was far less to do than there is now and I don't remember people being bored. I wasn't bored. If you don't have a car then your choices are limited for sure but still, what do people want to do that isn't in Boca? Mountain climb? Snow Ski? Hunt grizzlies?
Now there is intercollegiate sports on campus which gets mediocre attendance.

Agreed! Back in '75-'79 there was NOTHING to do in Boca and other than a limited amount on intramurals, nothing on campus either.

Boca really WAS a retirement town then, all older hoses and older $$$. Nothing west of 95 til Boca West was built WAY out there!

I never found a shortage of activities during my time ashtray FAU. Boca has a lot of stuff for college students to enjoy and is half hr away from both West Palm Beach or Ft. Lauderdale. One of the reasons I enjoyed my time at FAU was because of the large metro setting that was also close to you beach. It's not like Tally or Gainesville which can get boring really quickly.
