Florida Atlantic scored the contest's first two runs two in the top of the first. Wright State would answer with one in the bottom half of the first two innings but were held scoreless the remaining five frames by freshman Paige Pender, who picked up her first collegiate win.
The Owls (1-6) will return to play on Saturday at 6:00 p.m when they take on Michigan in the first of two games. The second opponent will be Maryland.

Re: 2012 FAU Softball Schedule
Florida Atlantic outhit the Wolverines (7-1) overall 5-3, but two third inning errors led to the game's only runs.
In the nightcap, the Owls offense struggled, managing just one hit off the bat of Stephanie Cal. The Terrapins (3-1) didn't fair much better, but were able to cash in on just three hits due to 2nd, 4th, and 5th inning miscues by the home team.
The Owls wrap up action in the FAU Kick-Off Classic tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. against Long Island.

Re: 2012 FAU Softball Schedule
The Blackbirds took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first before Florida Atlantic (1-9) answered the bottom half of the frame with two runs to take control.
However, in thematic fashion as of late, FAU would fall prey in the third inning to three two-out errors which plated six unearned Long Island runs.
Stephanie Cal had two hits and and a RBI to lead the Owls offensively.
The team returns to action next weekend when hosting Auburn, Florida A&M, FIU, Loyola Marymount, Michigan State and Tulsa in the Strike Out for Cancer Tournament.

Re: 2012 FAU Softball Schedule
Sounds like softball needs to BIG TIME up the recruiting in softball which is extremely hard for me to grap as one sport which was strong if not dominant at FAU through the years had been softball.
But so far this year we are being dominated and embarassed by, I have to say in all honesty, below average mid-level teams, teams we would NEVER have lost to and have many times mercy ruled in the past. This is sad, especially in light of the early season success Baseball is having.
C'mon ladies - STEP IT UP, NOW!
