FAU Softball Announces 2012 Signing Class
Kara Oberer (St. Petersburg, FL/Osceola HS) is a 2nd Team All-County selection and two-time offensive MVP. Oberer also won the team’s rookie of the year award as a freshman and was an all-South County selection as a junior. As a senior, she led Pinellas County in homeruns while playing shortstop for the Warriors.
Twin sisters Christina and Melissa Martinez are also part of the incoming class. Both twins have been three year varsity players at Felix Varela High School in Miami, FL. Christina is won the team’s Rookie of the Year award as a freshman and MVP award as junior while playing in the outfield. Melissa played shortstop and won a gold glove as a sophomore led the team in batting average as a junior. The sisters helped the Vipers to a district championship and helped their travel team, Miami Stingrays Gold to a fifth place finish.
Britneylynn Siudym (Wappingers Falls, NY) played all over the field at Vista Ridge High School. She is a two-time All-State selection and team MVP. She also helped VRHS to a regional championship as a freshman, and an area championship as a junior. Siudym also hit. 486 and stole 14 bases.
Carnesha Thompson (Lake Wales, FL (HS) will come to FAU from the same high school that produced current FAU assistant coach Chan Walker. Thompson was a third-team All-State selection last season while playing third and outfield for the Highlanders.
