Forget the stadium... what about the rest of the "village"?

Yeah - Boca isn't too easy-going when it comes to hanging signs. Plus, it's not really a "fraternity house," per say. It's a house where a bunch of brothers live. Although it may serve the same purpose. In the past, and those that are in their mid-20s would know this, the house where SigEp and then Sammy lived was a "fratenrnity" house. Where exactly was that…. off of Palmetto, right?
This will be diffrent form ones in the past for one we own the house its not renting im pretty sure those house in the past were just being rented from a land lord. Two this house is pretty big  we will make it 7 beds rooms it has a tennis court which will be turned into basketball court/ court yard no one has had that yet. Also what good is a house off palmetto we are only like a mile from campus.

Can I ask who paid for the house? Is your national fraternity footing the bill? Or is it a group of students purchasing the property?

I ask because I'm only familiar with the way my franternity handles the situation.

Let's hope the group gets along and stays friends! That could be an ugly divorce!

I wonder if those laws in Boca are on the books about a large amount of peopel living in the same house. I could never find them, and I asked about them and no one could point to any truths behind them.

The point you make is key. There is a difference between a fraternity house and a house where fraternity members live.

I also think that it would be very difficult to make it a true fraternity house given the laws in Boca. I could see Boca slamming the door shut on that really quickly if things get out of hand with parties, etc.

Reminds me a bit of "Old School."

Re: Forget the stadium... what about the rest of the "village"?

Talked to someone from Housing today. They said the next dorm (Innovation Village Phase I) will start construction in January 2010 and open up in 2011. Hold-up is "contracts, stuff like that." May be 1200 students but likely be 600… it depends on enrollment and demand.

Well, we needed a new dorm in Fall 2008. Three years later it's being built.

Building up this campus is going to take forever.

Maybe we needed a new place in 2008.

But I wonder if they choose or have to wait until they have several years of consecutive demand of over 400, 500, 600 students, etc. Know what I mean?

300 people on a waiting list doesn't suggest building a 1,200 bed dorm. But 700 people on the waiting list… two years maybe three years in a row… might.

Thoughts???

Housing manipulated those numbers by keeping rooms open. Everyone one the waiting list got a dorm last year.

I know of some people who had to get apartments at Bicycle Club (and nearby) because they didn't get housing. Then again, maybe they jumped the gun and got Bicycle Club because they didn't want to be on the waitlist.

Anyway, the first set of housing assignments for the Fall just went out to freshmen.
