Ground-breaking for stadium in March...

I think a lot of the players realize it's not that Howard or whoever is recruiting them is lying to them. I think most if not all that are here see the struggles we're going through to get a stadium right now. I think the football people, Coach & etc. really believed that by now we would have had a stadium on campus. It's not for the lack of trying, it's not like we're telling these kids oh there's gonna be this huge stadium on campus they get all excited they commit and sign then find out that was a total lie there are no plans to build a stadium and we'll be at lockhart forever.

It WILL happen just not sure if that will be in 2010

I understand what you are saying. I just think there is a history of broken promises. The first class was sold on the dome idea (the worst concept ever) and ever since then classes have been told they will be playing in a brand new stadium. I am not saying that the coaches are intentionally deceiving players. They want a stadium as bad as anyone else, but you can only cry wolf so many times before people stop believing.

From the Nassau County Record? This sounds like one of those sweet things you whisper in a recruit's ear while trying to land them. I will believe it when I hear it from somebody local.

Every recruiting class has been told they will play in the new stadium, and so far every class has been let down.

Good point – this is what I get for not reading the article first.  Looks like the writer is just going off old news.  There's actually nothing special in there, nothing we haven't already heard.

The article does not state a quote; it simply makes a statement…as the original thread title did…

LM??

I changed the title because the statement "ground breaking for stadium in March" is incorrect. Having it in the subject makes it look like it is a fact, when it is anything but that.

Re: Newspaper says our "first football field" will begin construction in March

The point of fact is the writer of the article made the statement –> Quoted "Ground will be broke in March" endQuote–< and the accuracy of the timetable is debatable and highly opinionated matter on whether it is an accurate statement.

–> I have to apologies to LM & readers - I modified original comments by LM by mistakes I was trying to pull a quote & for some reason must have hit modified with out realizing it after I posted a reply

Re: Newspaper says our "first football field" will begin construction in March

Recruits were told the stadium would be on campus for the 2007 and no later then 2008, then it was 09, then 2010. If they break ground in March, I'll buy LM a beer at the Duffy's up here. I also believe the delays are not something the HS puts out info on easily. I think he is lead by leads that appear to be made with strong resolve.  ::)
