Money Problems for the stadium?

The AD needs to concentrate on raising money instead of the damn job interviews. If he wants to leave that bad leave and lets get someone that can help ut the damn money on the table. Enough is a freakin nuf >:(

I like Angelos but there comes a time when you stop with the job searchs to do the job at hand. Sorry but this is getting rediculous

Well, he reads his blog email questions. Maybe we should all send him a message to get to work. I really think he would be required to inverview on his own time. Use vacation time or the weekends but working in a state job might be different. Like they say, "its good enough for government work".

Re: Money Problems for the stadium?

Ok, I've finally lost it.  This is ridiculous!  They announced the start of football in 1999.  Or was in '98?  I don't know.  We've had a team on the field since 2001.  I can't believe that we're still talking about this in 2008.  WTF is going on down there?  They farted around for years with that stupid-ass dome idea, signed a long-term contract at a 75,000-seat stadium two counties away, let the Boca Raton city council shove us around, and now here we are!

FIU has a stadium going up as we speak.  They're gonna be playing ball!  We're gonna be the laughingstock.  Just get the damn thing built!

Ok then you can order your season tickets for 2011, but Ill be in that stadium in 2010 even if its in my lawn chair as bulldozers work around me!

That might be the only way that you will be in an on-campus stadium in 2010.

GO OWLS!!!

Is the current version of the stadium out of the picture?  At least the AD is determined to build something and even if it is 20K it is better then the Lock.  I am sure it will all work out.

It isn't totally out of the picture, but it doesn't look too likely that anything will be in place by 2010.

GO OWLS!!!

I think we're jumping from point a (which is stadium in 2010) to point f (which is stadium 201?) too quickly. Granted, what Angelos said is very disheartening not just to potential recruits but to us fans, but it kind of sounds like some ppl are jumping ship at the first sign of a leak. As HS says, we have to keep the faith. I firmly believe the stadium will be there by 2010 despite whats currently happening.

I don't read Angelos' statement as having anything to do with a date. He's just saying that if we can't get a 30k seat stadium we'll do what FIU did and build an 18k seat stadium that we'll build onto over time. 18k is less than Lockhart but it would be brand new and on-campus, so at least it would be a step in the right direction. I'm not too worried that we'll have less than a 30k just yet… it's too early to be worried I think.

First sign of a leak?? This ship has been riddled with holes since day one. One empty promise after another. I want to see a stadium as badly as anyone else. I am just tired of all of the BS.

Re: Money Problems for the stadium?

Off topic slightly but I was watching a baseball game the other night, and they were commenting how Washington's new stadium was built in 22 months.

This thing won't take long to build.

Finding the funds might.

Like things, love people.

Re: Money Problems for the stadium?

As my friend says,

"I need to go to the f***in' bank and get an f***in' loan"

FAU needs to go to the bank and get an f***in' loan.

And yeh as cool as the dome stadium was, I don't know why everyone (Brogan, Angelos, and HS) were for it in the first place.  It was way too much money to realistically happen.  On the other hand, maybe when we are watching UCF head to the Big East and we have a 30k stadium that is nice but not nice enough we will have regretted not forkin over $150M for a dome that everyone in South Florida wants to play in and the Big East wants in its conference.

Sigh.

Re: Money Problems for the stadium?

it's just like selling a house:

Ask for 300k, and really want 250k…

Except, in this case, we ask for the 60k…would settle for 30k…and now are being shown 18k with no frills…

what's next - Boca High rentals?

Let's just reiterate that we are not at the point of going with 18-20k yet. Right now we're getting a 30k seat stadium in 2010 until we hear otherwise.

Re: Money Problems for the stadium?

Just get it done. Not getting this stadium done the right way will cripple what ever fan base we have at this moment.  I will be very dissappointed in our school it if comes to this.

Re: Money Problems for the stadium?

I'm trying to find the amount HS and the school raised before the program ever took the field.  I've seen $13 million, $15 million, but that was the amount of seed money raised before there was a program at all.  I'm pretty sure they continued to raise much more than that before 2001.  Anyone know?
