Priority & Premier Seat Holders
the Bank Atlantic Center/Panthers have a similar program, if you buy a club seat or suite for the season (and only for the whole shebang) you get first rights to those seats to see Paul McCartney, Jay Z and the Smuckers Stars on Ice…there is value in knowing you can buy that ticket, hassle free if you so choose.
so, yes, I would like the opportunity to buy tickets to future events. I'm not interested in the MLL All Star game, but if they created an ADT Boca Bowl and two teams came to play, you're damn right I want to see it.

Re: Priority & Premier Seat Holders
This is how season ticket holders to playhouses work and they have been doing this for years. It is a perk to get people to buy the FULL season ticket package and these give the theater it's operating cash. Very simple really, especially now in the computer age!
And as I recall we have not sold very many season tickets have we? So any perk is a needed incentive until we put a decent product on the field and run the stadium in a professional manner so as to not turn people off to FAU games and events immediately!

Re: Priority & Premier Seat Holders
Although i wont be attending at first I was a lil miffed about not getting to sit on the home side with access to the lounge but after reading it I think I understand why.
If you are on that side and in those seat the Cabana bar is open and you can come and go as you want. If they are having a private event at the Cabana bar (which they are) it would be hard to stop people who were not invited to it from walking around.
Also I thought of the TV angle as I belive this is going to be Televised. The cameras from the "home" side will be able to show more people in attendance becasue everyone will be on that side.
I could be way of base, but its probably a combination of things. They did allow us first shot at tickets, and while this is not a high profile event, others may very well be.
I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick @$$ and I'm out of bubble gum.

I bought a priority seat and donated $250 to do so and do not think that I should be offered that seat at every event FAU held there. I think its good marketing if they actually have events I want to go to (this one is definelty not one of them). I thought I donated the $250 towards the football team.
We donated money to buy a seat a Lockhart as well…I dont think they were offering me soccer tickets. The whole principle of this doesn't really make sense to me.
If the team was 8-4 nobody would be talking about the value not being there.
I disagree. When you are deeply discounting the seats on a seat by seat basis in this area, the value for the donor/season ticket holder is eroded substantially, regardless of the record. There should be a substantial PREMIUM to purchase single game tix in the priority & premier club areas.
I would argue the value would be less with a winning record if athletics continued to pursue this tactic/strategy as the S. FL bandwagon fans would infiltrate the are and possibly create an undesirable atomsphere.

Re: Priority & Premier Seat Holders
And I agree, by deeply discounting single game tickets (especially PREMIUM CLUB type seating and access) you do have the opportunity for a less desireable and non-FAU loyal group to "crash the FAU party". And to every season ticket holder who has commited his season long investment in the program, it is pretty much (to me) an insult to find out the people sitting next to you only had to pay 1/2 or less for the same seats in the same section.
I know WHEN FAU improves as a team the DEMAND will go way up but in the mean time, let's be reasonable with the ticket prices this year until DEMAND allows an increase.
I would rather have a full "reasonably priced" stadium (for ALL - season tickets holders INCLUDED!) than a 1/3 or less full, OVERPRICED ticket - parking and food and collectables not included! After all, the revenues we derive are not all from the tickets. All those other revenue streams add up - IF people come!
As we all know, FAU DOES NOT have an active or very loyal alumni base due to it's past as a "commuter school" and I was one of those commuters! We are going to HAVE TO appeal to football fans OUTSIDE OF FAU to sell out tickets and we did IMHO a GOD-AWFUL job of most everything this first year on-campus.
But we will get better, I know all of us here want to see that and actually I hope all of our bitching is meant as constructive criticism based upon our concern and love for our school and program!

$50 a game including donation is plenty for where we are as a program right now. They cant forget that they need to be trying to appeal to younger professionals who have graduated from FAU in the last 10 years. They outpriced a lot of those folks last year.

I personally think the total price of the priority seating should be $250 a pop while we are in the SunBelt. Its just too tough to draw vs. teams like Lousiana Monroe.

Completely agree. $100 seat and $150 donation or whatever combinatino makes it work. Those that can & want to contribute more can.

Right, or just buy the next level seat (which at $750 or whatever it was was RIDICULOUSLY priced).

Re: Priority & Premier Seat Holders
First, this will be a nationally televised event on ESPN 2 and cameras will shoot from west to east. Because of this, they wanted all seating to be in the east side stands. This accomplished two things for them: it provides a better television image since they only estimate an attendance of 5,000 and, second, it contains cost by saving on ushers, security, cleaning, etc thus making the rental cost fall within their budget.
Second, in order to help fund the event they required a space with a view of the playing field to host a private party for their sponsors. They identified the priority deck for this purpose.
For stadium rentals that utilize seating in the priority/premier level, seat holders in those areas will get first right of refusal for their exact seats. Due to the requirement of the private party area for sponsors we could not do that for this event. However we wanted to offer these individuals the first choice of seats for the event. In addition, priority/premier seat holders usually only have first rights to the exact number of seats they purchased. We lifted that limit for this event as a perk. We are also working on some additional perks for the priority/premier seat holders that choose to attend this event.
Our goal was to keep our facility name out there as a player by booking this next event. In addition the bonus of having our stadium and university showcased on national television was a huge plus to booking this event.

In regards to MLL: we are trying to attract a variety of events to the stadium in order to showcase the university and facility as well as pay the debt service on the facility. MLL had several "conditions" under which they would bring their event to FAU Stadium.

Great explaination. Thanks! It's exciting that FAU Stadium will get more national exposure. Hopefully this event will lead to many others.
