I continue not to be impressed with the general offensive scheme. It just seems very predicated on players winning their individual battles. Guys just aren’t being schemed open.
Richardson was better than I thought he would be.

Frustrating result. The game was there for the taking.

That’s what I miss about Lane. His up tempo RPO’s scheming players open through crossing routes and up the seams (Robison to Bryant in 2019 for example). And you’d often have the RBs breaking a run for 15 or 20 yards.
This scheme seems to be similar to Taggart’s but without the bubble screens and predictable QB draws. We could possibly do better with another OC, but it’s too early to tell.

I agree with “axaltaracing24”, Lane did use the TE much more, similar to what Illinois did yesterday.
I imagine Tom Herman, with all of his OC experience is working very closely with his Offensive Coordinator Charlie Frye and the positive signs we saw yesterday will show up in conference play.
If not, we are in for another 5-7 season at best.
As it is, we need to win 5 of 8 conference games now to be bowl eligible.

The primary time G5 beat P5 is when the game is a home game for the G5 team.
Just this weekend ya had Marshall beating Virginia Tech @ Marshall.
I think BOTH the Perdue and Illinois losses would be wins in S. Florida!
And we gotta have MORE HOME game re-matches vs. P5 out of conference for an attractive schedule for the S. Florida fans!!!!

There will be no home and home with Purdue or Illinois.GeorgiaOwl said

These were paid games and do not require a home and home series.
The Ohio game was a home and home series with no money exchanged, as is usually the case.
