Taggart needs to get these kids to stop partying and take this thing seriously. Stay smart and isolated .  Put the team in a bubble

How do you suppose FAU does that? Would love to hear your plan.

Yea it’s difficult to expect that of 18-22 year olds in a campus where there is regular contact with the general student population daily for the most routine of tasks. I’m with Jake. We had a game saw the team play and that was basically our Spring Game. We don’t need to deal with anymore uncertainty than we are already dealing with. Cancel the rest of the season and go home with an undefeated C-USA record and claim the conference title again based on win percentage

That's BS. There are plenty of teams with the same young kids that are doing fine. We need leadership.

Covid is a virus. Flu is a virus. They transmit incredibly easy. If we are careful we can limit, not eliminate, a lot of cases. Trump is a perfect example.( I'm s Trump fan). He was careless as heck. The odds of him contracting it was higher than most. And he got it. The virus is a real thing. The more careful you are, the less your odds. But NOTHING, other than a vaccine, will bring your odds the near zero. The good news is treatments  have made it no where near as scary as it was early on. All coach can do is is the kids to be careful in their day to day activities.

Exactly this.  A few of taggart's main criticisms in his career have been lack of organizational skills and lack of discipline.  He needs to change that especially in this climate

The people saying well other kids party, probably.  Other schools haven't had 3 covid spikes on their team already.   The what aboutisms won't fly here.

Can't be a nazi with them of course as they aren't employees like the nfl.  But he needs to instill discipline to make these kids get smart

The thing I didn’t even think about until this morning was just that when you have two mass outbreaks in your football team, you’re then putting the entire university at risk even if there’s fewer students there on a regular basis. And that is another “is all of this worth it?”

People are going to get test positive in 2020. But postponing/canceling two games because you don’t have enough healthy players is so, so far beyond that.

I stopped living my life for 3 months due to the China virus being over hyped as the deadliest virus ever (okay some exaggeration there). Nowadays I'm living my life. If I catch the virus so be it. Hopefully, I'm healthy enough to power through it in a few days. I carry a mask everywhere I go but don't necessarily wear it everywhere I go. If one has underlying health issues then they need to take every necessary precaution to protect oneself.

I believe false positives tend to be an issue as well. It's hard for me to gauge what that percentage is as I tend not believe the MSM. If someone tests positive and 2 days later they test negative, it makes me wonder if they were ever positive in the first place….especially if they were asymptematic.

IMO these student athletes need to live there life as well. This virus is never going away even with a vaccine.

Be well and Go Owls!

I keep seeing alot of speculation about Partying has that been confirmed??? Baylor paused team activities, so did Notre Dame. Memphis had an out break so bad it took almost 28 days to get rid of. I think people are being unrealistic if they didnt think that this would happen.

@cbboarder…that is my mindset  also.  99.8%  recovery rate. I'm not shutting down my life with those odds. I'm smart. I'm careful. But my life has not changes. No body, and I mean no body, could have stopped this. A new virus with no knowledge on how to treat  it. Quite different today.

Idk about the partying, it's anyone's guess on how this happened again. I disagree with the notion that "Players need to live their lives" no, they need to decide if they want to play football or "live their lives". Several players have opted out, and I have no issue with that, but this year requires sacrifice if the players and coaches want to play football. Regardless of what your thoughts are on the virus and how serious it is, we will not play if this continues.

I think they should be careful but you almost can ‘t go anywhere. I know ppl that are extra careful and and still got the virus. I went out to eat with my girlfriend and on a patio guy comes over no mask and wants to start a convo. I was like wtf! Are you serious! I personally am not going to shame 18-22 year olds when 50 year old people are having problems following rules. My main point was to not speculate on partying who knows how this could have happened.

Sure and I'm not saying they should lock themselves in their dorms. There's something happening that's causing us to have these issues on multiple occasions. It seems like more than just bad luck at this point.
