Willie Taggart returns to Florida, this time to Tallahassee

Willie Taggart is returning to his home state, but this time to coach the Seminoles.

More on this story is to come. one thing for sure, is this opens yet another attractive West coast option for Lane Kiffin, and other big names floating around the coaching carrousel.

I am less concerned about the Oregon job now being opened than I am that Taggert and the new UCF staff are going to be burning up the recruiting trail here in Florida.  I know we aren't typically competing against FSU for many recruits, but the guys at both schools now are going to try and sign every FL player they can.

With these staffs, both UCF and FSU will quickly regain any lost talent from their previous head coaches leaving.

Another Florida connection is going to Tallahassee. Willie Taggart is brining his defensive coordinator, Jim Leavitt back to the Sunshine State. Leavitt was USF's first head coach in program history, leading the Bulls to a #2 spot in the AP Poll in the wild 2007 season.

I'm not overly worried about Taggert and co. affecting our recruiting. UCF is probably more worried, since they have they have a higher profile and are probably trying to land some 4* and 5* guys, which would have been easier if FSU was down. I think this probably puts UCF into a lower recruiting tier, and we'll compete with them for 3* and a couple 4* guys.

And with Taggert bolting after one year, I think Oregon now has to go the safer more stable route! And slick Willie recruited 7 guys from the State of Florida at Oregon last year - think THEY AND THEIR FAMILIES might be "upset" (friggin word censor :Big-Grin:)and feel betrayed?
One reason Mario Critoballs is the interim and is being considered there. can you imagine Cristoballs being HC ANYWHERE let alone PAC12 Oregon!!!! Got fired by the Golden P—–s in the friggin SunBelt with a 27-47 record!!!!

Mario Cristobal was not a bad head coach he took FIU to two bowl games and was fired after one bad season after the two bowl games.

In the time since he spent 3 years with alabama and 1 with Oregon. I dont he should get  a head coaching job at PAC 12 level but if i were AD at Charlotte id hire him!

Yeah it looks like they may promote from within; there is a push for Cristobal but not sure if the Oregon powers feel the same. It's kind of surprising because they're too good of a program to have these kinds of stability issues. For that reason, I don't see them hiring Kiffin… although they are used to high-profile offenses.

Looks like Leavitt might be staying put. He has shown that he wants to return to an HC gig, especially after the report of Bill Snyder blocking Leavitt to becoming HC-in-waiting at Kansas State surfaced.

Former FIU HC and recruiting savant Mario Cristobol has been named the interim HC for Oregon, as they will take on a tough Boise State squad in the Las Vegas Bowl.

If you told me a week ago, that Mario Cristobal would be the head coach of the University of Oregon, I'd laugh in your face.

Yet here we are. The man who hasn't head an HC gig since his firing at FIU will lead the Ducks into the 2018 season.
