2010-2011 Men's Basketball Schedule...

Sat down with Coach today and he changed a few of the above to TBA's…this is so that they can iron out more time in between double headers - IE a 4:00 PM start time over a 5:00 PM start to allow for locker room access…

He said he doesn't care which slot the men play in, as long as there is more time.

Of course, this will be up to the "powers that be" in the end to decide ultimately.

I really hope he doesn't push the Saturday afternoon game times. I think it will thin the crowds not add to them.  The most important thing (behind winning) is putting fans in the stands and Saturday afternoon games, in my opinion, will do the exact opposite of that goal.

GO OWLS!

Do we know if the official basketball schedule will be released before the team leaves for Europe?

I'll check but it probably won't be since they are leaving in nine days and the petition to move game times will likely take more than that amount of time to pan out one way or the other…

But either way, it will be what is up top with only the TBA's changing…

The schedule will be out by the end of the week per FAU, but the TBA's will still be in place for the most part on the doubleheader games…

Release put out today per FAU:

FAU Men’s Basketball Releases 2010-11 Schedule

Trips to Florida, Mississippi, and Home Game vs. USF Highlight Slate

Florida Atlantic University men’s basketball head coach Mike Jarvis has released the team’s 2010-11 schedule.

“It’s a schedule that has more of the programs that are at the level we are trying to get to,” said Jarvis. “It will help us continue to move towards our goal of building a successful basketball program.”

The team will host Northwood and Lynn in exhibition games, before heading to Portland, Oregon over Veterans’ Day weekend to participate in the MTE Classic, with games against Portland, Wisconsin-Milwaukee and UC-Davis. Warner Southern will be the Owls’ opponent in their regular season home opener on Wednesday, November 17, followed by a home game against American on Saturday, November 20.

FAU men’s basketball assistant coach Matt McCall will return to his alma mater when the team travels to Gainesville to face the University of Florida on Tuesday, November 23. Trips to George Mason (Saturday, November 27) and Mississippi State (Tuesday, November 30) wrap up the three game road trip, before the Owls return home to host instate rival USF on Saturday, December 4.

A season-long five game road trip including games at Hofstra University, Siena College and DePaul University, as well as games at Sun Belt opponents Troy University and ULM will last most of the month of December, before the team closes out 2010 by hosting Manhattan on Thursday, December 30. A home game against Florida Memorial on Monday, January 3, 2011 will wrap up the nonconference schedule.

The SBC schedule begins in earnest in January. The Owls will travel to the defending SBC tournament champion North Texas on Thursday, February 3, 2011 and host rival FIU on Saturday, February 5, 2011.
