Owl DB Cortez Ash Charged in Copper Wire Theft

Well, according the latest Spring 2012 roster put out by FAU, Ash not listed. He has a pending court date of 01-19-2012 @ 9:00 a.m. in Indian River County for the charges brought.

That's probably going to tell the tale…if he is eligible to play that is - 2011 grades could be the reason for leaving him off at present as well. Have no info on that, just throwing it out there as a possibility.

Regardless, really liked this kid…always around the ball, and hard hitting…Hope that somehow it works out for him to stay on the team.

As we all know a lack of discipline has been an issue on this team for a few years now. Hopefully Coach Carl is sending a message (a much needed message) this type of of behavior will not be tolerated.

Re: Owl DB Cortez Ash Charged in Copper Wire Theft

Just a quick follow-up note since FAU has a pretty solid record for "off the field activity" and want to keep that in the public eye.

Ash changed his plea to "No Contest" according to public records, and was given 12 months probation in addition to court costs.

He met the requirements for the probation to be terminated on March 29th, 2012, serving just over a month after receiving that judgement on February 23rd, 2012.

Might not be an Owl anymore, but good to see that he got the issue addressed successfully.

Good for him, hopefully this is a learning experience and he will make wiser decisions in the future

Sad story but come on the guy has had a chance to learn. We live in a world where personal responsibility tends to be a rare commodity. I remember seeing this guy on the basketball court during my time as a student at the on campus Rec Center. Total knuckle head. Hope he changes course
