2012 FAU Softball Schedule

Jacksonville defeated Florida Atlantic 5-3 on Friday night in the Owls' first game of the Parents’ Weekend Tournament.

Two singles and a Jacksonville (16-11) error gave FAU a 2-0 lead in the top of the 3rd. But the Dolphins would respond with five of their own off five hits in the bottom half of the inning to take the lead for good.

The Owls (10-19) garnered a score later in top of the 5th thanks to a Jacksonville walk, and had the bases loaded thereafter. However a double play ended the side.

Taylor Fawbush threw 3.2 scoreless innings in relief of Samantha Messer, who took the loss for Florida Atlantic.

RF Whitley Herb was 2-for-3 with one run scored, and Heather Barnes had one RBI on the evening.

FAU will get another shot at the Dolphins tomorrow in game two of a double header which begins with Syracuse at 12:00 p.m.

What happened to the softball team? I know they've never been super spectacular but they've still been competitive. Taylor Fawbush's name keeps coming up… must be our best player.

Still… football, basketball, softball… whole bunch of disappointment this year. FAU's in a funk.

At least baseball's off to a respectable start.
