Sun Belt Football: Games for Week of October 20, 2012

Week Eight is here, with all teams seeing time aside from Arkansas State who will enjoy a bye.

Louisiana-Lafayette and North Texas get the period started early, with a nationally televised ESPN2 tilt, on Tuesday at 9:00 PM in Denton.

On Saturday, we have four games spreading out for the afternoon.

A struggling Panther squad battles the Trojans at Veterans Memorial Stadium in the one slot.

Later, the Owls seek to end a 13 game SBC slide against newcomer South Alabama just before ULM and WKU will square off to declare who reigns as best team in the league.

In the night cap, a surging Blue Raider unit steps out of conference once again while hoping to upset SEC opponent #19 Mississippi State on their home turf.

Here's the full line-up:

October 16th

Louisiana-Lafayette 23  North Texas 30

October 20th

FIU 37  TROY 38

FAU  34  USA 37  2OT

ULM 43  WKU 42  OT

MTSU 3  Miss. St. 45

Enjoy the games!

Friendly reminder…….

Louisiana-Lafayette at North Texas (ESPN2) - 9:00 PM

Tonight!

Odd having a Tuesday game in the mix.

;D

Of course, you can also watch Obama and Romney duke it out at the same time as well, should the game not be entertaining.

FINAL:

ULL 23  UNT 30

The Mean Green score 24 of their points in the second half, and used a balanced attack consisting of of 242 yards by foot and 282 by air, to pull of what Head Coach Dan Carney called a "big win" afterwards.

North Texas' defense also did a considerable job against the Cajun's ground attack, limiting them to 106 yards for the contest and handing them their first conference loss of 2012.

UNT pulled ahead for good behind Antoinne Jimmerson's 78 yard TD in the fourth quarter.

Good game by N. Texas, hope we follow up our very close loss to them with a good game vs. S. Bama who don't have a great QB like Browning but do have a decent D. C'mon Coaches, attack 'em from the 1st play of the game. Stop being like P. Manning and only produce when down 20+ points, play and produce when it matters! PLAY TO WIN!

I changed it to the LSU Texas A&M game, but I would turn into a middle school game from Montana over hearing that guy.

He talked about the men's basketball team and renovations amongst a couple of other things…

"Petino has a plan."

(We were able to pick up two of FAU's leftovers)

For what it's worth, a small section of us up top started chanting "F%#@ Ray Taylor" during Midnight Madness. All in good fun of course, but expect the same when they come up on March, 2nd.

Back to this game. Troy opened up the half with a quick score to bring the game within 3, but FIU scored just minutes later, 31-21 FIU 10:00 left in the 3rd.
If you haven't already, tune into ESPN for a classic SEC close low scoring contest, in the LSU Texas A&M game, which is 17-12 LSU. And even better, tune into ESPN2 to watch the implosion of Ohio St. 4 Turnovers by the Buckeyes, with the lastest one being seconds ago, with 3:00 left in the game. Ohio State overrated!? Surely you must not be serious.
