Game Notes
Owls
After taking 2-1 against UAB last weekend, FAU will put their a 5-1 in-conference record on the line this weekend at home, hosting FIU for three at FAU Baseball Stadium.
The Owls nearly caught up from a seven-run deficit to Miami on Wednesday, making it a 7-6 affair in the sixth while having the tying run 90 feet away. But they couldn't cash in on a bases-loaded situation, and late Hurricane runs lengthened the spread towards an eventual 16-6 loss.
Despite the setback, and dropping the last two, Florida Atlantic has won 13 of their last 16 games and remains the league's top hitting squad with a .304 team average.
They also claim the most runs (175), total bases (419), hits (265), RBI (167), doubles (57), and home runs (29) in all of C-USA.
Panthers
FIU has dropped four in a row, two midweek versus Florida Gulf Coast after two the weekend prior hosting WKU. Overall, the Panthers have lost seven of eight after a 10-7 start.
Lorenzo Hampton, Jr. paces the hitters with a .329 average, while Austin Shenton leads the power numbers, five home runs and 22 RBI.
The team's Friday night ace is Logan Allen, 3-1 so far this season with a 0.74 ERA (three earned runs in 36 2/3 innings) and 61 strikeouts to lead all C-USA pitchers.
The Panther's .230 collective mark at the plate places then last in C-USA hitting. However, their collective staff's mark of 4.09 edges out the Owls' 4.52, and they enjoy a conference best 255 K's on the season.

“That’s a really good way to start a weekend off. I thought that Blake (Sanderson) did an excellent job keeping us in the game early and we were able to put some balls in play hard, capitalize on a few of their mistakes", said Head Coach John McCormack.
"I thought the guys were ready to play. On top of that, we turned (three) double plays, got us out of a couple of innings. Really good job, really proud of the guys.”
