This week’s Conference USA schedule bears a lot of similarity to last week’s. It begins with a C-USA team (this time UTSA) traveling to play at BYU for the first time. Then it features four conference matchups, with two in the afternoon and two in the evening.
UTSA (3-0) travels out West for its first-ever meeting with No. 15 BYU (3-0). Roadrunners sophomore RB Spencer McCormick leads the nation with 527 rushing yards, to go along with four touchdowns. BYU QB Zack Wilson has completed an FB
East Division rivals Middle Tennessee (0-4, 0-2 in C-USA and FIU (0-1, 0-0 in C-USA) meet in Miami for the Panthers conference opener. Senior WR Jarrin Pierce has emerged as work horse on the Blue Raiders offense, ranking second in the FBS with 31 receptions in four games. Panthers RB D’Vonte Price will look to build on his career-best 148-yard, three touchdown showing at Liberty two weeks ago.
FAU (1-0, 1-0 in C-USA) will look to make it two wins in a row this season and nine straight going back to 2019 when it visits Southern Miss (1-3, 1-1 in C-USA) for the first time since 2013 - pending potential weather from Hurricane Delta. Owl senior OLB Leighton McCarthy was dominant in FAU’s season-opening win last week, piling up 10 tackles, 4 TFL’s, three sacks and a forced fumble. He will be looking to contain Southern Miss freshman RB and South Florida native Frank Gore, Jr., who ran for 130 yards and a touchdown in the Golden Eagles win at North Texas last Saturday.
Off to its best start in 10 seasons, UTEP (3-1, 0-0) returns to North Louisiana for the second time in three weeks when it plays its conference opener at Louisiana Tech (2-1, 1-0 in C-USA). Both teams’ offenses are being sparked by new faces. Miners’ freshman RB Derek Hankins has multiple 100-yrd games and five rushing TDs in three games, while Bulldogs graduate transfer QB Luke Anthony has thrown the second-most touchdown passes (10) in the FBS.
Marshall (2-0) returns to action for the first time since Sept. 19 when the Thundering Herd meet WKU (1-2, 1-1 in C-USA) in Bowling Green. Led by senior LB Tavante Beckett (24 tackles in two games), the Marshall defense will seek to disrupt efficient new WKU graduate transfer QB Tyrrell Pigrome (six TDs and no interceptions in three starts).
Charlotte (0-2, 0-1 in C-USA) makes its first visit to North Texas (1-2, 0-1 in C-USA), as the Mean Green play their fourth straight home game. The 49ers defense is ranked fourth in the FBS in fewest passing yards allowed (151.0 per game), while North Texas leads C-USA and places 11th in the nation in passing offense (335.0 per game) with nine passing TDs in three games.

UTSA 20 (15) BYU 27
The Roadrunners show worthy grit, and receive a stellar performance from reserve QB Lowell Narcisse who comes in and goes 17-of-20 for 229 yards and 2 TD.
Had UTSA's run game produced better results, they could have won this game.

The Blue Raiders snap a 5 game slide, as QB troubles abound for the Panthers (0-2, 0-1), who use three and go 8-of-21 overall for just 58 yards.
Asher O'Hara accounts for 374 total yards for MTSU (1-4, 1-2).
