FAU Baseball started off their conference tournament pursuit with a dud, losing 11-2 to the 4-seeded Old Dominion Monarchs. ODU's lead was padded by a seven-run seventh inning that pushed the Owls to the brink of being run-ruled, but they held on to finish the game in nine innings. Now, they have their backs against the wall as they await the loser of Charlotte vs MTSU in an elimination game.

The Rundown

• FAU's defense was spotless in this game, not conceding a single error, sparked by a spectacular play by Steven Loden.
• The bats, however, were a different story. FAU hit .188 overall and 0-4 with runners in scoring position.
• The Monarchs blew the game open in the seventh when Hunter Cooley gave up three straight singles to start the inning. The Monarchs managed to plate seven runs in total that inning.
• FAU's pitching was lackluster today, only striking out two batters, with none of those being on a swinging strike.
• Of the eight batters the Owls had on base, they stranded six of them. The Monarchs had the same amount of stranded runners, but with 10 more baserunners in total.

"We didn't get enough outs. Hunter Cooley was not able to locate his pitches and we know how good Old Dominion's offense is, and of course, they showed us. Up to that point, I thought we did a pretty good job of keeping them in check, skating out of trouble here and there, turning a couple of double plays, but probably went to the well one inning too often." -Head Coach John McCormack on what went wrong in the seventh inning.

While don't know who the Owls are facing yet, as they await the loser of the MTSU-Charlotte game, we do know that the game will be at 10:00 AM EST and will be broadcast on ESPN+.

MTSU upends Charlotte 7-2 to advance in the winners bracket.

That means the Owls will take on the 49ers tomorrow morning at 10:00 AM.
