C-USA Football: Games for Week of November 13, 2021

No midweek games this period, with seven contests on tap for Saturday, all of which are within two hours of each other in start times.

The Owls had the stage last week with their tilt against Marshall, but this week's marque match-up will be Marshall hosting UAB. The Herd are picked to win this one by a score and Owl fans should be rooting for the Blazers.

FAU will need to take care of business against Old Dominion to keep their meeting with Western Kentucky next weekend interesting.

Rice could do their fellow Owls a big favor with a win against the Hilltoppers, but are heavy underdogs at 18.5 points.

Here is the full schedule for the day:

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 13

WKU at Rice (ESPN+)                     2 pm

UAB at Marshall (CBSSN)                3:30 pm

FIU at Middle Tennessee (ESPN3)     3:30 pm

FAU at Old Dominion (ESPN+)         3:30 pm

Southern Miss at UTSA (ESPN+)      3:30 pm

Charlotte at LA Tech (Stadium)        3:30 pm

UTEP at North Texas (ESPN+)         4 pm

This has to be one of the worst scheduling moves I've ever seen.

Basically play all the of the games at once, that way no one can possibly watch them all.

Anyway:

Go (other) Owls
Go Blazers
Go Blue Raiders
SMTTT
Go Bulldogs
Go Mean Green

FINAL:

WKU 42  Rice 21

The Owls (3-7, 2-4) add a score late, but can't keep up with the Hilltoppers (6-4 ,5-1) who are now Bowl eligible and get a 482 yard passing performance from likely C-USA offensive player of the year recipient Bailey Zappe.

FINAL:

UAB 21  Marshall 14

The Blazers (7-3, 5-1) did their part to keep the dream alive for FAU, defeating the Herd (6-4, 4-2).

UAB recorded their longest scoring drive of the season, going 99 yards in the first quarter. During the drive, wide receiver Trea Shropshire had a 36-yard reception and DeWayne McBride finished it with a 15-yard touchdown.

FINAL:

FIU 10  Middle Tennessee 50

The Blue Raiders continue to improve and hit the half-century mark in points against the Panthers (1-9, 0-6) who will not win another game this season.

Freshman Nick Vattiato shined in his second career start at quarterback, completing 20-of-24 passes for 147 yards and two touchdowns.

Martell Pettaway led MTSU (5-5, 3-3) on the ground with 11 carries for 95 yards, including a 57-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. Jimmy Marshall led all MT receivers with four catches for 51 yards and a touchdown.

FINAL:

FAU 16  Old Dominion 30

Three safeties allowed by the Owls (5-5, 3-3) sets a new program record, and then some.

The Monarchs (4-6, 3-3) have now won three straight and can still make a bowl game.

However, they will have to get past both MTSU and Charlotte to do so.

FINAL:

Southern Miss 17  UTSA 27

Despite the loss, the Golden Eagles (1-9, 0-6) arguably play their best game on the season as this game was tied entering the final period.

That final period would be unkind though, as the wheels fell off the bus, and they turned it over three times.

The Roadrunners (10-0, 6-0) remain perfect, albeit it obviously by Southern Miss misfortune.

FINAL:

Charlotte 32  LA Tech 42

Although they were favored, the Bulldogs get a pride win and stop the bleeding from an underperforming season. They also ended a five game losing streak.

Charlotte saw a school-record 448 passing yards from quarterback Chris Reynolds, but Marcus Williams Jr. had four rushing touchdowns to lead the Bulldogs (3-7, 2-4) to the win.

49er (5-5, 3-3) bowl eligibility will have to wait for another day.

FINAL:

UTEP 17  North Texas 20

UTEP reeled off 10 straight points to tie the game with 55 seconds to play, and barring a miracle, overtime was a likely scenario.

That miracle came, in the form of a bomb from quarterback Austin Aune to freshman wide receiver Detraveon Brown that covered 58 yards and got the Mean Green to the UTEP 10-yard line with 10 seconds to play, setting up a game-winning 27-yard field goal from Ethan Mooney to give UNT a 20-17 win and a three-game winning streak.

The Mean Green (4-6, 3-3) have now won three in a row. Conversely, after a red hot start the Roadrunners (6-4, 3-3) have now lost three in a row.
