Hattiesburg Final:

Southern Miss 8  LSU 7

There would be no extra innings in the Championship Game as the Golden Eagles take the lead in the top of the 9th and hold on for the win which will send them into Super Regional action, also to be held in Hattiesburg.

Center fielder Gabe Montenegro yielded the hot bat for USM, going 3-for-5 with 3RBI.

USM edged the Tigers 12-11 in hits, with each team allowing one error, but saw their staff deliver a 9-5 advantage in strikeouts.

None were as important as the pair RHP Tyler Stewart served up to close out the contest, earning him back-to-back saves having previously pushed the team past Kennesaw State with three in an extra inning affair to keep them in the tournament.

As winners of the Coral Gables Regional tonight in a football score of 22-6 over Arizona, Ole Miss will take on the Golden Eagles Saturday in the first game of Super Regional action.

Hattiesburg Super Regional Final:

Ole Miss 10  Southern Miss 0

Steering away from normal opening lead man Tanner Hall, the Golden Eagles went with RHP Hurston Waldrep for game one of the series. He was relatively effective through five frames while allowing three runs.

But the Golden Eagles ran into a 6th inning buzz saw thereafter, as the Rebels plated seven runs to take game one in eventual shutout fashion.

USM managed just four hits for the contest and left eight runners on base.

They will take the field again tomorrow at 4:00 PM for Game Two, needing to win to stay alive.

Hattiesburg Super Regional Final:

Ole Miss 5  Southern Miss 0

The Rebels make quick work of USM, setting them down in scoreless fashion to claim the Super Regional on their home turf.

Southern Miss did return to ace Tanner Hall to start the contest, but he was ultimately responsible for four of the game's runs.

The Golden Eagles best chance to dent the scoreboard was a bases loaded situation in the 8th inning with two outs, however it went fruitless.

USM was outscored 15-0 for the short series, and outhit 20-7. They left 12 runners on for the two game stint to Ole Miss'18.
