Men’s Soccer’s Darnell King Named to NSCAA All-Region Team

Tampa Native Led FAU in Scoring in 2009 Florida Atlantic University men’s soccer player Darnell King has been named to the third team NSCAA All-North Atlantic Region. The selection is the sophomore’s first to an all-region team in his two years as a member of the FAU men’s soccer team. King led FAU in scoring in 2009 with 15 points on six goals and three assists. The Tampa native has been a staple in the Owls’ starting lineup since his freshman season and has scored eight career goals through his first two seasons at FAU. King was also an All-County selection at Gaither High School and broke a school record with 71 career points. “We are very proud of Darnell’s accomplishments and we expect him to continue his high level of play next season,” said Kos Donev, FAU head men’s soccer coach. Donev recently named King one of his three captains for the upcoming 2010 season as the Owls continue to progress in the Mid-American Conference. The other two captains for FAU next season will be senior Andre McCreath and sophomore Tyler McNabb. FAU finished 2009 with a 4-10-2 record after falling with a score of 3-0 in their season finale against Bowling Green University on November 7. The Owls will begin preseason workouts during the spring semester in preparation for the upcoming 2010 season.
