FAU Wins Second Conference Series in a Row Rose Gressley pitched a complete game three-hitter, went 2-for-2 at the plate and scored the games only run in the Florida Atlantic softball teams 1-0 win over South Alabama on Sunday The Owls (20-18, 5-4 Sun Belt) threatened in the second inning when Jessica Myers hit an infield single, was sacrificed to second by Taylor Fawbush and then advanced to third on a bloop single by Gressley. However, Beth Pilgrim struck out the next two batters to end the inning. South Alabama (15-15, 3-4 Sun Belt) mounted a threat of its own in the third inning, with runners on second and third with just one out. After Gressley struck out the next batter, Meghan Collins was tagged out at home after trying to score on a ball that got away from Kerri Croney. The Jaguars were had another rally going in the fourth inning, this time with runners on first and second and just one out, but a fielders choice and foul out to Fawbush killed the rally. The games only run came in the fifth inning, Gressley led off with a triple to left but USA was able to retire the next two batters, but Ambar Jones came up with an RBI single to center to drive in Gressley. USA got runners aboard in both the sixth and seventh inning, but were unable to capitalize. Gressley improved to 5-5 on the season as the win gave the Owls their second series win in a row and put FAU above .500 in Sun Belt play. FAUs six-game homestand continues on Saturday when they host Troy.
