Kristyna Dzmuranova tied her career high with 15 kills in the Florida Atlantic Universitys volleyball team three game sweep of Bethune Cookman on Saturday. The victory helped FAU (6-2) salvage a split on Day 2 of the Stetson Invitational after losing to Wyoming in its first game of the day. FAU and Wyoming were tied at five in the first set, then the Cowgirls went on a 20-7 spurt to take a 1-0 lead. Wyoming kept its momentum going early in set number two, taking a 4-0 lead. FAU trailed 10-4 in the second set went they outscored UW 21-10 the rest of the set to win the set 25-20 and tie the match at one set each. FAU scored the first five points of set four, but Wyoming used a 12-3 scoring run to clinch the match with a 25-16 win. The Owls used extended service runs by Kristyna Dzmuranova and Nicole Gerig to take the first set from Bethune Cookman 25-18. Dzmuranova had seven kills in the second set as the Owls built a lead as large as 10 points, eventually taking set number two 25-21. The two teams battled for control for most of third set, including several ties. The set was tied at 18 when the Owls closed on a 7-4 run to take a 25-22 match clinching win. FAU will travel to Orlando next weekend for the Courtyard by Marriott/UCF Classic.
