Anderson Not Concerned

FAU place kicker Mitch Anderson isn’t worried about two missed field goals in last week’s loss to ECU.

Anderson explained, that it’s all about the operations of the kick.

After starting the year a perfect 4-of-4, low snaps, spun laces, and poor holds resulted in a pair of misses.

“You have to put it in the back of your mind, and basically forget about it. If you know you can make the kicks, you have to leave the doubt behind," the senior said.

Anderson, who leads FAU in scoring this season, has embraced the idea of special teams becoming a stronghold for the team.

“I think it’s one of our teams advantages going into every game. We have a group of core guys who have really stepped up,” Anderson said.

And stepped up they have: the Owl’s special teams have become a backbone of the young team. Anderson’s four field goals are tied for first in Conference-USA and punter Sean Kelly ranks second in punts attempted.

Saturday the Owls travel to USF and according to Anderson (pictured) the attitude in practice has changed.

With a rough 0-2 start to the season, the Owls are hopeful for Saturday’s game.

“I feel our effort level is way better than last week and we are a lot more focused,” Anderson said.
