FAU Football Has Four Participating in All-Star Games

Florida Atlantic University senior linebacker Andrae Kirk is one of four seniors who will participate in post-season all-star games.

Kirk is slated to play in the Medal of Honor Bowl, which will air on the NBC Sports Network, at The Citadel in Charleston, S.C., on Saturday, Jan. 10 at 2:30 p.m. Kirk concluded his four-year FAU career as the team’s “Ramon Rickards Bone Award” recipient and was honored as the team’s MVP. Kirk led the team in tackles but he was larger than just one defender. The senior was a second coach and a teacher, often staying late to improve his game by helping those around him. Defensively, he either led the Owls or was in the top-three in all but two categories, fumble recoveries and blocked kicks. He ended his four-year career second in all-time FAU career tackles and first in tackle assists.

Damian Parms and Lucky Whitehead both will play in two separate all-star games on Saturday, Jan. 17. Parms will suit up for the East West Shrine Game at 4 p.m. at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, which will be broadcast on the NFL Network. Parms ended his senior season second on the team, behind Kirk, with 84 tackles.

Whitehead, who lead the Owls in receptions, all-purpose yards and was named the team’s offensive MVP, will take the field at 4 p.m. at the StubHub Center at California State University Dominquez Hills in Carson, Calif. The game will air on ESPN2.

D’Joun Smith, FAU’s Defensive Player of the Year, will complete the all-star quartet when he participates in the Reese’s Senior Bowl on Saturday, Jan. 24 at 4 p.m., at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Ala. The game will air on the NFL Network. Smith (pictured) also has been invited to participate in the 2015 NFL Scouting Combine from Tuesday, Feb. 17 to Monday, Feb. 23.

The first FAU players to participate in an all-star game were Jared Allen and Chris Laskowski in 2004. Since then, the Owls have sent 21 to all-star games, including this season’s selections.
