Owls Set New Program Mark in Rebounds with Drubbing of Warner

They Owls haven’t won all that often this season, but when they have it has been in decisive fashion. That trend continued as FAU (4-10) put away an outmatched Warner squad 81-47 on New Year’s Day.

Marquan Botley paced the offense with 17 points, and Justin Raffington landed his third double-double with 15 points to go along with 11 rebounds. Two other players were in double figures in scoring - Pablo Bertone 14, Javier Lacunza 11. And two also produced double digit rebounds – Rich Morrow 11, Dragan Sekelja (photo center) 10.

The team set a new program record for most rebounds in a game with 61 overall against the Royals, who dropped to 8-6 after losing their third straight contest. The previous mark was 60, set way back in 1998 against Palm Beach Atlantic during the program’s very first game.

Defensively there were seven shots swatted away by Florida Atlantic, which established a new season high for the team.

The win comes just before the start of Conference USA play, which begins at 7:00 PM on January 9th with a road contest against Louisiana Tech.
