Kimberly Smith lead all scorers with 23 points in FAU’s 103-48 opening day victory over Webber International on Friday afternoon at the FAU Arena.
“She’s been working really hard in practice and it showed on the court today,” Chancellor Dugan. “Her teammates were really looking for her and they did a great job.”
The Owls (1-0) got off to a quick start and began the game on an 18-4 run. FAU did not look back for the rest of the game and enjoyed a double-digit lead throughout the entire contest.
Four other Owls scored in double figures including DaLita Scott’s 15 point, nine rebound performance. Scott was one of eight FAU players making their debuts on Friday.
Returning starters Teri Stamps and Breana Turner also had strong opening performances with 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Smith also added five rebounds and seven assists to go along with her team-high point output and was 9-of-11 from the field including 5-of-6 from three-point range.
“Everyone got involved tonight and we ran the floor very well,” Dugan said.
All 12 players on the FAU active roster played at least 10 minutes with Smith leading the way with 27 minutes.
FAU returns to action on Sunday at home when they welcome Kennesaw State to Boca Raton. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
