Cincinnati could’ve scheduled games at teams like Alabama and Ohio State. They didn’t because they wanted to fraud their way into the NY6 bowl.
These teams like UCF and Cincinnati are purposely avoiding road games at Alabama that if they won could’ve gotten them into the playoff.
They avoid those road games because if they lost it would jeopardize their chances of a NY6 bowl.
We have a chance to maybe be an attractive team to make the P5 one day. Complaining gets you nowhere.
This is in Cincinnati for not scheduling great teams. They and UCF know exactly what they’re doing and they don’t belong in the playoff until they knock off an Alabama in the regular season.
Cincy has played OSU many times. I am not doing 10 posts back a fourth, with you claiming you know who is avoiding who. You do not know how scheduling works, what really happens behind the scenes, and how unrealistic to do what you're describing is.
Maybe I can explain it to you in person one day to. College football is the only game not settled on the field—end of story.
We do not start the NCAA tourney with 4 number one seeds. I hope Costal and Cincy claim titles and make a mockery of the "playoff.'' And for what feels like the millionth time, P5 conferences add based on money. It's time G5 schools fight back and force more parity in this sport.
The only way these teams would earn my respect is to play at an Alabama.
I’m pretty sure that Alabama would take a one time home game against a team like Cincinnati.
If Cincinnati had beaten UCF 59-3 maybe I’d think a tad differently.
That said, Notre Lame is in the CFP and that is arguably a joke, as well as Ohio State, which is another joke.
Would love to see Cinncy take on either of them.
I’m supposed to believe Maryland was the best P5 team that would’ve played UCF in 2017? They’re avoiding good teams to get to NY6 bowls. That’s what his brother is doing here now.
It doesn’t take a genius to figure this out. And it’s not complicated either.
What’s the point anyways if they’re going to lose to Alabama by 50 points? It’s not like these G5 teams have any shot at winning the National Championship.
The only way a G5 team could have a chance is if they had an amazing QB and a few other sure fire NFL all pros. And they’d need to actually schedule a good team in the regular season.
Ohio State in the playoff is a JOKE.
Why is there even a debate about this being complicated? If UCF wanted to play at Alabama they would take it in a heartbeat to give UCF a monumental beat down.
There needs to be maybe a strength of schedule formula in deciding which G5 team makes the NY6. Right now they’re all scared to play good P5 teams. Poll voters need to award G5 teams who will take the chance at playing road games at a team like Alabama.
Now they’re avoiding them and trying to get media exposure. Then they claim they’re being left out of the playoff. That’s pretty gutless and it’s like they’re all publicity hungry.
Allowed to pick and choose who you play and play politics with it.
The playoff system, like Shane mentioned, needs to be inclusive enough where you have to prove it on the field. I dont care how many teams end up getting in, but if you win your D1 conference you should be in a playoff. Just how it should work.
JUst be quiet. I have said over and over why UCF does not do 1 and dones. Games are made years in advance and year to year, teams you schedule can be good or not so good. It is no different than a playoff team having an weak opponent in one round. Don't call something a playoff when 70% of teams are eliminated before 1st game. Coastal is proof that you can even add a great team to an already scheduled schedule and still be snubbed.
it has been quiet, let's not change that.
What they need to do is play one of those teams in the regular season. Maybe they don’t need to schedule the absolute best but take chances with an LSU or Oregon or Auburn, teams that are good to great but aren’t every year going to cream everyone.
They only way I’d feel any sympathy for a Cincinnati is if they beat UCF by 30+ and beat a team like LSU or Oregon at their place in the regular season.
At least that way there’s a possibility they could give an Alabama or Clemson a game if they ran the table.
Yup, scheduling is also more than "who you play.''
In 2019 Alabama did not play back-to-back road games all season.
They had a bye before LSU and an FCS before Auburn.
They always make sure they are at their best.
Other schools do not get handed that luxury and do not, for example, play a triple-option team then have to go on the road four days later, which makes them prime for an upset.
The SOS of schedule argument is ridiculous and bias that is based on mostly inaccurate pre-season rankings.
OSU looks like a top-four team?
But the ESPN's of the world have created this narrative where you have the JFG's of the world screaming about SOS and accusing people of "being scared" when that is not true.
The real reason a UCF or Cincy does not get invited is….. money.
Each Power 5 conference gets a base payout of 66 million-plus 6 million for each team that makes the playoff.
The entire G5 gets 90 million, so it becomes about 3-5 million less per school.
The powers that be want to keep school like Cincy out because it prevents the little guys from getting some money.
So, it doesn't matter who loses to Bama 48-10 as long as Cincy or UCF does not get the money they could use to grow their programs, gain national recognition, or even worse, the AAC says they have right to the 66 million over the Big 12 or Pac 12.
In ANY pro sports, ALL teams play balanced H-A schedules. NFL 8H-8A for ALL teams, MLB 81H-81A for All TEAMS.
In college football some P5 teams schedule 8H-4A and most 7H-5A while MANY G5 teams have to play 5H-7A! Also makes it much harder to compete when right off the bat your team has a scheduling disadvantage.
Finally, it is a FACT that many P5 teams WILL NOT play good G5 teams in fear of LOSING!
