Brantley Jr. departs the Buffaloes after enrolling early to be with the team through spring practices. He was the first high school commit of head coach Deion Sanders' recruiting class.

He came out of Valdosta High School ranked as a three-star recruit by 247Sports with an 89 score. He was also rated the 48th-best player in the state of Georgia and the 55th-best at his position. Furthermore, ESPN and Rivals rated him as a three-star defender.

He had offers from Arkansas, NC State, UCF, and Louisville among many Power Five offers before committing to Colorado in December 2022. He is also no stranger to Owls defensive coordinator Roc Bellantoni, who recruited him to Auburn that year.

He finished his high school career with 228 tackles, 108 tackles for loss, 34 sacks, 51 quarterback hurries, three forced fumbles, and two interceptions while adding 10 touchdowns offensively. He was named first-team all-state, as well as defensive player of the year his sophomore, junior, and senior season.

In his final season, he put up 98 tackles, 34 tackles for loss, 12 sacks, 16 quarterback hurries, one interception and one forced fumble. He tacked on three touchdowns on offense.

Brantley Jr. is the second player to transfer from Colorado, reuniting with fellow quarterback Kasen Weisman, who redshirted his first collegiate year in the 2023 campaign.
